Baseball Time in Arlington: A Texas Rangers Blog - Home - Entitled

Entitled

During the winter between the 2010 and 2011 seasons, I wrote a piece about what I thought had made the Rangers organization so successful and, in addition to doing a great job of identifying talent, what it boiled down to was that Jon Daniels and Ron Washington were running a meritocracy. The jumping off point was how Michael Young seemed to believe that he was immune from the rules of an organization that was driven by the singular goal of getting better, no matter what......

... I missed Kinsler listed as an outfielder ... which ought to be interesting. With his ADD we are sure to be reminded of a Little League outfielder day dreaming watching a butterfly as a ball flies over their head.

Great Article. Ron Washington changed. He managed the rangers differently in 2012 then in 2011, 2010, or before. Players weren't performing and Wash continued to send them out there and the Rangers sunk like the Titanic. Michael Young was the most visible but He wasn't alone by any means as this Article stated. Both Kinsler and Hamilton had mental letdowns and nothing was done about like in the past. The 2012 version of the Rangers wasn't the Same Clubhouse as in other Years. A number of Players knew they could go thru the motions and not be held accountable for it. 2013 will be interesting. Will Wash manage the Team like He did before 2012 or will He continue on this Destructive Path and Watch the 2013 Rangers Go down the Drain the way this past season just did. Once a Manager loses the Clubhouse its very hard to regain His Players Respect. This Season is the Crossroads for Wash. If the Rangers don't bounce back and go Deep in the Post Season, this could be His Last Season as the Rangers Manager.

Traded. Read the whole post at his link.

if they traded with Toronto, i'd rather see them get A.J. Jimenez C than d'Arnaud. offensively d'Arnaud is better but as a catcher Jimenez blows him away throwing out 55% of base-stealers. Jimenez reminds me of Pudge

It's the same as our narrative on Young ... if you believe this is Wash's last season "no matter what happens" ... then you make a change this off season when TEX is reloading.

You don't wait a year if the guy (either Young or Wash) is not a part of 2014.

With new blood and new leadership you might find yourself in the OAK position.

Maybe. But if the JD finds Magic and the Rangers bounce back there is a chance Wash will be extended. Of course it does get complicated in the fact that does JD and Ryan feel Wash is still eye to eye with their Philosophy of the Rangers Direction. There will be a lot of new faces on the Rangers next year. Right now its unpredictable how it will work and how good this Team will be in 2013. Rangers still have one of the best Farm Systems in the Game and the Team is still Young. Know Wash has a lot of Detractors but as a Ranger Fan I hope for a Bounce Back Season. Once you go down its so hard to get back to the Level you were at. After the Rangers broke up the Late 90's Rangers Playoff Team, they wondered in the wilderness for 11 Years till 2010. Want to be successful and a perennial winner for a long time.

only the ownership doesn't see the need right now to do so and seems content to see the 2013 season with both. they are not in a rush to slam the door right now like a lot of fans seem to be. and make a change to copy a team that has had 1 successful year usually ends up being a mistake

Dude. Seriously stop with the "organization seems content" crap. Is that your new "well wash doesn't agree with you"?

You don't have any idea what the feeling is in the rangers organization on these two going into 2013. If they were looking to shoot wash and young both to the sun do you really think they'd come right out and tell everyone. If there's one thing we know about JD and Nolan its that they play things close to the chest until they make their move. We're not even to the winter meetings yet and none of us really know what's the club's plans are. So quit with that "they seem content" crap okay. You don't know anything.

my feelings exactly. we have some great young talent, like Profar & Olt, but there seems to be a rush to throw them into the big leagues and its 162 game season and let them and the Rangers sink or swim with them. i like the plan they have for both Profar & Olt which is to have them open in AAA for most of the 2013 season with a September call-up unless injuries require them coming up earlier or they trade away Elvis mid-season like some rumors seem to indicate

and you do? you spend post after post calling for both heads and you have no better idea of what the organization is thinking. RIGHT NOW, they have no plan to fire Wash or release Young and you can produce nothing that shows different. based on Nolan's comments and if i choose him or you to listen to, you wouldn't even get a thought.

you express you opinions and i express mine. if you don't like mine then ignore them and don't bother responding to them and i will ignore yours
