You know, Im starting to wonder.. .with all the faith the Front Office, and some around here and on other sites showed in Colt McCoy....

Why was the Smith trade even needed. Because unless Im mistaken it was said many times, Colt McCoy would have done just as well as Cousins.

another false talking point the puppets used

i will be more of a cry baby puppets when i expose every talking point you guys made as false till we get to the real reason you didnt want KC which we all know anyway

you are such a hater. Nothing is false. Vt and I have actually predicted what would happen with KC in the last 3 seasons. You just don't get that this organization didnt feel he was worth the money on the long term deal. Then you bring in average QB's who you think are better than Alex Smith. That is being a hater, when you say a A.J McCarron for example could have a bigger impact on the skins than Alex SMith. That is just crazy. that is all hate if you ask me.

Every Redskins fan should be happy with SMith. IF you are not you are just being a hater b/c any logical Redskins fan knew that KC wasn't signing here long term. Going into FA with Alex Smith and no QB drama is a huge get. but of course the haters knocking the organization from what happened years ago.

Shark and I have been predicting what would happen as well. We just don’t buy into the organization, Bruce Allen, is the good guy. We believe they tried to bully and low ball KC the whole way.

Again, listen to why some believe McCarron would be better. You refuse to look at surrounding factors for Smith’s win/loss success. Kap takes his job in SF and SF wins as much, if not more. When he has missed time in KC, they actually have a better win percentage. This team is not built for a risk averse QB. Because we are not built properly, that is why McCarron would have a chance of helping.

Again, listening is not your strong suit. Haters hate the trade and the way the entire fiasco has been carried out. You don’t believe this is QB drama?

What happens when “the haters” are proven correct?

Maybe the Niners learned from our mistake and realized, betting against your QB and slapping the tag on him will only leave you in a position to do something more expensive and desperate to get another QB, or drive up the price on your own QB to a point where you might not be able to keep him.

Maybe...

And Grap could end up being the next Flynn, Cassell, Osweiler type signing, and the 9ers are sitting there 2-3 years from now still looking.

from Allens lips to your ears to your post puppet . none one you wanted to pay market value for a franchise qb . you moved the goal posts after every box he checked . you gave him little to no credit for the wins and crucified him for the losses and you talk about hate

then you buy this is a good trade mantra spewed by your string puller . we have CDC now and you wont be happy with him either

I believe if we didn't do this trade and we lost KC in FA we are a worst team today. Brining up the fact that ANY FA QB could come in here and bring what Alex SMith bring to the table is nuts and its just pure hate for this team. If you Kc fine. Go be a Browns, jets or whatever team he ends up with fan. Team first. You are player first.

well wait a minute , you said ANY qb could do what KC did so any FA we signed should have been fine . , right ? then why trade for CDC ? i mean you said colt mccoy could do it . the facts is bradford TB AJ taylor keenum all could do what CDC has brought to the table without the cost

even if they are somewhat less with you crying about "if healthy " these guys can take us to the playoffs , hell keenum was in an NFC title game

so keep talking mouth piece for allen/snyder

yeah right. I don't remember saying anybody could do it. I was never sold about paying him huge money. Keep hating. All about the player and not about that team.

OK... the question becomes..

What does Smith bring besides the chance that we wouldnt get worse?? Because to me this sounds like a classic lower your expectations type answer. We were told countless times moving on from Cousins would make us a better team ON the field.

Now we are being told that moving to Smith primarily was to keep us from becoming a worse team. Cousins is gone, good for him. According to the agenda around here, just the fact that he was going to be gone was supposed to be good for the Redskins. Yet now what Smith brings to the table is not a guaranteed upgrade, but a guaranteed we wont get worse??

61.2M through 2019
86.4M through 2020
111.9M through 2021
137.5M through 2022

CAP
--The cap hits in the first 3 years are 37, 20, and 26.6. This is a good contract for both parties.
--Sportrac estimated 117M in 2018 cap space, so this leaves us with 80M in cap room
--It's essentially a 2 year deal, since he could be cut before season 3 without any serious cap issues
--The last 2 years of the deal are basically team options
--If he's cut after 2 seasons, we'd save about 12M in space
--If he's cut after 3 seasons, we'd save 21M and change in space
--If he's cut after 4 seasons, we'd save 22.8M in space

I'm a little surprised the details worked out this well.

Could be that:

--Shanny thought Grop was better
--Shanny and Lynch saw Grop as a bird in the hand
--Shanny had Grop and KC rated similarly, but Grop would be easier/cheaper to sign to a LTD
--or a mix of those

This same question was asked when the Niners traded for Grop when everyone expected us to go after Cousins. The Niner media said it was "bird in the hand".

According to Sportrac's estimates, the Niners started with a projected 117M in cap space for 2018.

So, even if Grop has a 30M cap figure in 2018, we'd still be looking at 87M in cap space for 2018. That would still be 2nd most in the league.

Strangely, no. The team's biggest needs are CB, Edge, OG, OC, WR, RB. The talk from the NIner beat writers is that the team will likely be looking into the draft for WR, pass rusher and RB and might also pick up a cheap RB on the FA market. While the Niners are expected to spend some of its remaining FA bank on one of the top FA CBs and maybe an OG. That could change if guys like WR A.Robinson or DE D.Lawrence or DE Z.Ansah don't get tagged, but I think they will.

Way i see it they Never wanted Kirk long term and that showed in the offers they made. So they drove the narrative how they eventuly wanted it to play out. The only part that didn't work out was the need to trade for smith. I think they expected to finish worse and the rookie class to have less questions

I remember you saying we are the browns without KC. That is hilarious. So according to you we are an 0-16 team in 2018.

Jimmy Garoppolo is due $42.6 million in the first year of his five-year, $137.5 million contract.

The 49ers have nearly $80 million in available cap space, so it makes sense for them to front-load Garoppolo's contract. Garoppolo will then earn $18.6 million in 2019 before taking home another $25.2 million in 2020. It's a huge financial commitment for a player who's made just seven career starts, but if Garoppolo plays the way he did last season, he'll be worth the money.

This franchise is under the consistent delusion that spending big money in free agency is the right way to do long term business.
