In other words you'd have done the same thing Kirk did. As for why did he stay? Maybe against many beliefs he did want to stay once upon a time.

Yep, never said that I blamed him for doing it because that's exactly what you do until that sure thing is in the bag. I suspect that he'll sign the tag again if it's offered and run full stop to whichever team offers the best contract (the aforementioned $30 outside). I too believed that Kirk wanted to stay once upon a time, but unlike too many here, that changed for me, and likely him, as I suggested, after the failed post 2015 contract negotiations. I also don't blame folks for holding onto hope that the deal would get done after that, they want their front offices to do the right thing, unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of employing hope with Mutt and Jeff in charge.

how many times does he have to "prove it " he clearly did and the FO got buyers remorse its their fault 100%

That's just it, from your perspective he proved it twice, possibly a third time and if you were in charge of this team the deal would have been done long ago. Unfortunately, he didn't prove it to those who counted and the results are what we're currently dealing with.

According to shark it's all Bruce fault but if skins signed Kirk and win he would never say good job Bruce we did the best we could Since Kirk told us to fuck off and get his Green in Alex I trust.. i think its funny and bullshit when someone in here says we are all most there and bash allen.. well we was almost there with Allen

Make no mistake, Bruce and Dan started this nonsense, however, Kirk and his people helped to keep it going by failing to insist that he won't play on another tag last year. yeah, 24 million is 24 million, but there's an old saying that applies to this move. "A fool and his money will soon part." Kirk took the fool's money and now he'll depart. If you don't think that was personal, think again!

And yet Bruce and Dan could have fixed this two months ago by saying simply this.

We wont tag Kirk, we look forward to him gauging his market value AND determining the situation where he can not only get paid what he is worth, but have a chance to win. We feel that Washington gives him that best chance to win, but if he feels otherwise we will accept that.

See I dont think Kirk was dead set on leaving. I do think he got tired of Bruce doing exactly what he is still doing. Basically trying to prove that he is in charge even when he isnt.

See: "A fool and his money, will soon part." because what you wrote above is the exact opposite of what Bruce and Dan did. Kirk took the fool's money and now is gone. I am curious though, what exactly is it about Dan and Bruce that convinced you that Kirk wasn't dead set on leaving after the failed post 2015 contract negotiations?

To me one side has dealt above board, and it wasnt totally personal for Kirk. To him it was and still is just business.... mostly.

For Dan and Bruce, its always been personal and they just happen to be in a position to try and call it good business.

All things being equal, short of being offered MASSIVE amounts more than the Redskins could offer, I think he would have considered staying for the same reason us normal folks dont just move to NY for a little more pay even if our current job isnt perfect.

It's all perspective man, for example, time and time again I've posted that I don't care if they offered him part ownership just to get the deal done. While some would say that's outrageous, to me the more important part, considering it's not my money or franchise to offer, was getting the deal done. Some say that there was a chance to sign him long term, I said, nope. Like I said , all perspective.

OK, no matter what your source has been, it still doesn't line up with the perspective of Bruce and Dan on Kirk. Too many believed that a deal would get done, I didn't.

Correction... to many Hoped the deal would get done.

So aside from switching the word from believed for the word hoped, the rest of your statement in its entirety is 100% accurate. :thumb:

Well, now we know why there are so many posts centered around shattered hopes. This has been going on for 3 years now, that's on par with taking a sharpened pencil and continually sticking it in your eye, then, wondering why it hurts so bad when the "hope' was, that it wouldn't.

I see where you are going with this.

Reality is, no one is beyond redemption. Bruce had a perfect opportunity to show that this wasnt about his ego and winning off the field. Signing Kirk would have been a small token to say, yes we admit we fucked up now lets move forward.

Instead he decided to throw more time and resources at trying to erase the mistake. SO in a way, you are right... as long as Bruce is here... it wont matter because Bruce has just proved that while he is probably capable of change, he doesnt want to change because he likes the way things are going.

But the difference in money is insane. Plus at the time they didn't know Grap would be available for a 2nd rounder.
You asked if I thought giving Grop this contract was a better route than taking a QB at #2 in 2017. I said, yes without a doubt. I said I wasn't high on the 2017 rookie Qbs and apparently, neither was Shanny and the Niner FO. At some point in the 2017 offseason prior to the draft, the Niners tried trading for Grop, but the Pats said no. That alone is strong evidence that the FO liked Grop more than the 2017 rookie Qbs. That is further backed up by the fact that even though we clearly needed a QB, we didn't take our pick of the litter at #2 in 2017.

No doubt, the difference in the money between Grop's deal and a rookie is HUGE, but the Niners had so much cap space, it didn't really matter. When we traded for Grop, the FO was deciding between Grop for a 2nd, signing Cousins in FA (likely to cost even more than Grop), sign a different FA QB, or drafting a QB near the top of the 2018 draft.

If the 49ers don't make the playofs in the first three years the rookie would have been the better option.
True. You don't pay a QB THAT much money to not make the playoffs for 3 straight years (unless you're the Lions).

Risky, sure. Foolish, how so? He bet on himself and he won, big. Kirk's been in the NFL for 6 seasons now and came in after slotting draft picks/fixing ridiculous contracts for 1st rd draft picks. How many 2012 4th rd draft picks with 6 years of NFL experience have made $46, 469, 288 in straight cash, homey. All of which every dollar came from their NFL paycheck? None? That's my guess. I can't imagine too many 4th draft picks pre-draft slotting made that much afater 6 years in the NFL.

He certainly needed the right sucker to do it and Snyder/Allen proved to be perfect, but Kirk Cousins has got over the NFL in a way few, if any players, have.
