Percy Harvin - WR - Seahawks

Citing numerous sources involved in the situation, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports "it is possible" Percy Harvin will play on Monday Night Football in Week 8 against the Rams.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport had a similar story this past Thursday. All signs point toward Harvin returning to practice this coming week after an ahead-of-schedule rehab. "I can’t put my hand on a Bible as we speak and say, ‘Yeah, he’s going to play next week'," said one source. "But there’s certainly a chance." The Seahawks are very cautious, but very optimistic. "Everybody has to be in agreement on it," said a team source. "It’s not Percy vs. the team. It’s nothing like that. But if everybody feels good about it and the doctors think he is ready, then it’s possible he plays." Harvin needs to be owned in all leagues.

Sam Bradford - QB - Rams

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Sam Bradford (left knee) will go for an MRI on Sunday night and the Rams "are concerned."

Early signs aren't good for Bradford's chances of playing any time soon. Coach Jeff Fisher conceded in his post-game press conference Bradford was feeling "significant pain" after the injury, and the MRI will be performed to check for serious ligament damage. The Rams may have to turn the keys to their offense over to journeyman Kellen Clemens for the foreseeable future.

It will be a dog fight the rest of year for sure. It seems like Seattle and San Fran and everyone else. Not really a believer in the Saints yet. Its a shame 1 of the 2 will be a Wild Card with a 12-4 record probably.

Bingo posts good information on here.

As far as the schedule goes, your 9ers actually had the easier schedule heading into the season. How can I say that w/out bias? Here goes:

1. The Hawks and 9ers have 14 of the same opponents w/ 2 variable games. The 2 variable include(d)
(a) you played GB in your house while we get the Vikes. Both were playoff teams in 2012.

(b) The Hawks travel to NYG in mid-December in an early cold weather contest, 10am PST start. 9er's travel to play the Skins on MNF. Neither team is playing that well. Heading into 2013, is there really an advantage one way or another? Even.

2. The 2nd difference are the 4 conference & 4 inter-conference tilts. This is where you had the edge going into 2013. The Hawks played Houston and Indy on the road back to back at early 10 am PST starts. Those are difficult back to backs and early to boot as the Texan melt down happened after we beat them. Your 9ers were fortunate to get Indy and Houston at home w/ a normal start time.

(b) The Hawks got the 2 easier AFC teams at home in the titans and jags. You get those 2 easier games on the road. The easier schedule is to get the better teams at home where you can hold serve and play the weaker op's on the road where you can take them anywhere/anytime. This schedule should've given you a 4-0 record vs the AFC South. You stumbled at home.

3. The 3rd difference is the home/away tilt on the NFCSouth. Heading into 2013, again, you had the easier draw. How? Again, the Hawks were getting the tougher contests on the road in Carolina and Atlanta with EARLY 10 am road starts. The Saints at home were a bit of an enigma and TB at home was going to be a W whether we played them on the road or at home.

(b) Your 9er's benefitted again. You play the Saints on the road but get them at a 1:15pm PST game. We get our Atlanta at 10am PST. You get Atlanta at home on MNF, we get N.O. at home on MNF. Push. You then get Carolina at home and TB on the road which is easier than our early Carolina 10 am road and TB at home. Again, you want the tougher games at home and easier on the road. As it turns out, your N.O. game is the only tough road game (besides Hawks) that you'll play all season.

In conclusion, when you analyze the Hawk and 9er's schedules, you'll notice that the only "game" differences are GB & Skins for you while we get Vikes and G-Men.

You'll also notice that the Hawks received 5 - on the road early starts against tougher competition while the 9er's had only 2 early starts against the easiest teams around, Jags and TB.

If you drop the pom poms, you'll "clearly" see that the Hawks definitely had the more difficult schedule because of which opponents we played on the road and having 5 at the early 10am PST start. On the other hand, you have 1 tough road game @ N.O. and only have 2 early road starts and they're against the "weakest" teams going in Jacksonville and T.B.

C'mon, man, 9er's had the easier schedule based on the simple and long analysis above.

Going into the season, it looked like the Niners had the easier draw. At this point, it's pretty clear the Hawks have the easier schedule. They've got more early starts, but GB is infinitely better than Minnesota, and Washington is markedly better than the Giants. And the toughest road game either team faces is the Niners' game against the Saints, though Indy is a close second.

The whole, "Houston didn't melt down until after playing the Hawks" is absolutely ridiculous. A typical view for the Hawks fans who tend to lurk around this board. Houston lost 30-9 to a mediocre Baltimore team the week before they played Seattle, and even their two wins were by the narrowest of margins.

If all games being equal between the Hawks and 9er's of the 14, the strength of victory would come down to the 2 differing opponents.

The won/loss record of GB and Skins vs the won/loss record of Vikes and G-men.

You would own #5 based on better records of your opponents, but you won't have to worry about #5 because we will beat you in your house and take the division by #1, head to head.

If you beat us at home, you almost certainly won't have to rely on tie breakers.

Matt Leinart - QB - Free Agent

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Monday the Rams will try out free agent QBs Matt Leinart, David Carr, and John Skelton among others this week.

Per Mort, the Rams are not giving consideration to Vince Young or Tim Tebow, despite past flirtations with the latter and coach Jeff Fisher's history with the former. The Rams are simply in search of a veteran backup to play behind Kellen Clemens at this point. Sam Bradford (ACL tear) is done for the year.

I know this isn't NFC West news per se, but I am adding this here only because it may indeed end up being an NFC West news by the end of this season. This guy could end up playing in our division next year, Arizona? St. Louis?

Jay Cutler - QB - Bears

NFL.com's Mike Silver believes there's a "very real possibility" the Bears let Jay Cutler walk in free agency.

Silver believes Bears coach Marc Trestman "might not place as much of a premium on arm strength as some of his peers," and that Cutler has hurt his cause by remaining turnover prone. A source "familiar with the Bears' situation" agrees. "If you're (Trestman), do you want to spend $20 million a year on Cutler, who might not be the best fit, or do you want to find someone you can mold who's efficient," the source asked rhetorically. "And if you think about how deep this (next) draft class might be, he can identify his guy and get him relatively cheap for the next few years." The Bears would be gambling by throwing in the towel on Cutler, but he turns 30 in April, and has grown increasingly injury prone. It will likely at least be considered in the Windy City.

Sam Bradford - QB - Rams

The Rams expect Sam Bradford (torn left ACL) to make a full recovery, and "return to the Rams lineup in 2014."

It's the second time in two days the Rams have given Bradford a vote of confidence for 2014, so it's looking safe to assume he'll be back. Bradford is currently due a non-guaranteed $14.015 million next season, and $12.985 million in 2015. It's possible he'll simply play out his rookie deal, but an extension that lowers his '14 and '15 cap numbers is also a possibility. Bradford's career has been star-crossed to date, but considering the league-wide difficulties at the quarterback position, the Rams are wise not to throw in the towel on the No. 1 pick of the 2010 draft.

Percy Harvin - WR - Seahawks

Speaking Thursday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll hinted Percy Harvin's (hip, PUP) Week 8 status will come down to Monday.

Carroll said Harvin will be day to day for the "foreseeable future." It's possible the Seahawks will decide to activate Harvin for a handful of snaps against wounded division foe St. Louis, but they'll more than likely hold him out until Week 9.

Bobby Wagner - LB - Seahawks

Speaking Thursday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said MLB Bobby Wagner (ankle) is "way ahead of schedule," but declined to say he'd be ready for Monday's game against the Rams.

"Way ahead of schedule" or not, it sounds like Wagner is going to miss his third straight game. WLB K.J. Wright has been subbing in the middle.

Is it bad that I'm kind of hoping he comes back early and re-aggravates the injury?
