I don't understand why they needed Gordon Hayward. If Stevens knew him coming was a possibility, then why did they just draft 2 SFs with the #3 pick the last two years?
BPA?

These guys all have some versatility, too... they all fall in that "wing" category that can play anywhere between the 2 through 4 spot... depending on the line up.

The Cs window of opportunity won't open for another 3 or so years. They need to stockpile young talent and ship out who isn't working out.
I think we will see more moves coming... both in the near and long term.

You gotta think the C's would love to make a play for Anthony Davis. Or something like that... we'll see what the trade deadline and next off season bring.

ESPN's Chris Haynes broke the story and appears to have blown his load early. Woj is saying Hayward and his agent haven't made a decision yet.

Somebody leaked it from his camp and Hayward hadn't informed the Jazz. That's what it's looking like happened.

Things could get interesting if we end up with the 1 and 2 picks next year.

One or two out of the following three:

- Avery Bradley
- Jae Crowder
- Marcus Smart

gone

Bradley is a no doubter. Gotta keep him.

Crowder overall is better than Smart but the logjam might be too tight.

Quite pleased, as a C's fan.

Golden State is the class of the NBA and no one is touching them as things now stand... but Boston keeps putting one step forward in a positive direction and keeps building well for their long term future... all at the same time.

Which is remarkable.

Anywho... the C's certainly have a glut of wings right now. What else could Danny Ainge have cookin'?
Yeah Hayward is a good pickup. All I want is for you guys to beat the Cavs in the East.

So, with the log jam of players and first round picks could the Celtics pull off a trade for Anthony Davis? Could they afford it cap wise?

I really hope so... a lil down the line, though... word is Pel's want to see Davis + Cousins together to begin the season... they want to see what they got there.

If the experiment isn't working so hot... maybe at the trade deadline?, maybe next offseason?... Danny can pry him loose.

:hope:

Celtics should be pretty solid next year and I think they could compete with the Cavaliers. No one can topple LeBron but their depth is nice.

Horford/Hayward/Brown/Bradley/Thomas with Smart/Tatum as the #6 and #7 is pretty sweet. They'll need to sign a big man on the cheap. Bogut? Pachulia? Ezeli? Some other big man from the scrap heap of Warriors castoffs?

Will Crowder be able to earn minutes over Hayward, Tatum, and Brown? I think he's the odd man out.

Anthony Davis

Davis does not become a FA until 2021. Why in the world would the Pelicans trade him anytime soon? None of the picks/players are likely to be as valuable as Davis - there is little upside to that type of trade (& I don't ever recall hearing rumblings that Davis is unhappy). Now if this were a case like Paul George where the player will become a FA at the end of the year this might be a possibility but not in this case.

It seems unlikely... but if:

- the Davis/Cousins experiment isn't working out
- the Pel's lose faith that they have the ability to retain Davis in '21

Then, the C's seem like the team with the most to offer for AD, especially with quality draft picks

Great news and the right add. Now we need a rim protector, either through the draft next year or with a trade. The Cavs better be in shape cause the cletics can run 8 or 9 deep this year. I think the 7/11 twins will be the surprise story this year.

If the Davis/Cousins tandem doesn't work out you part ways with Cousins - not Davis. As for 2021 - huh - that is 4 years away - the Pelicans should not worry about that until at least 2019 if not later. Davis is in the top 3-4 players in the league - who in the world are you going to get that is anywhere near that good?

Any proposed trade like this would benefit the Celtics - not the Pelicans. No way this happens anytime soon.

Like I said... it seems unlikely...

And I'm not going to argue with anything you say above. You make perfect sense.
