Watched it last night. Obviously doesn't stand up to the original but it's still really good (if not occasionally overly fan-servicey)

The "twist" on Paul Mescal's character was a bit disappointing in my opinion given it opens some plot holes and issues with the first movie.

Denzel steals the show.

So they are saying Lucius is Crowe's son all this time?

Did they mention or hint at that in the 1st movie & I just never put it together, or is this just a surprise! to make a plot twist for the 2nd one?

Lucilla and Maximus used to bang back in the day.

Then when he’s living as a gladiator, she goes to visit him. Admits she used to be in love with Maximus. And that was some solid making out between the two. I could see there being a kid.

Haven’t watched the second one yet though.

Decent effort.
Little slow, and the action set pieces felt contrived.

Water in the colliseum? Really?

4.5/10

Didn’t they recreate naval battles in the Colliseum? I thought they did, but it might’ve been other gladiator arenas that did it. I watched it, but I also had a lot of beer and thought it was entertaining.

The romans absolutely flooded the coleseum.

They probably didn't bring in live sharks. But they did flood it.
