Good for the Giants to recognize Eli's contributions to the team history...

Doesnt matter whether you like him or not... He is probably the SECOND most important Giant in giants History behind only Lawrence Taylor... Notice i said important, not BEST...

Winning two Super Bowls, and compiling all those stats as the Giants QB, makes him easily the BEST Giants QB of all time...

Isn't Strahan's number also getting retired? He's gotta be the second best defensive player for the franchise all time.

It's gonna be hilarious when Eli gets into the HOF. Alotta people think he has no business in that place. It's gonna take a while but it'll happen. No QB with 110+ wins, 57,000 yards, 360+ TD, 2 rings and 2 S.B. MVP's has been left out.

I would think only Strahan would rival his importance for the #2 spot behind LT... But I think you're right. Eli showed up big when it mattered most.

And yea Eli was 5x the QB that Phil Simms ever was, so he's easily the best QB of that franchise.

apparently not until November 28th... Makes sense that they would give each player their own day... But shocked strahan's number wasnt retired already...

he really is a polarizing player... for this reason... he belongs in the HOF... but he was also just Not THAT GOOD....

That was the next thing I was going to say. For some reason I thought they retired MS's number years ago.

He's the definition of mediocre. And for that reason some will say he has no business in the HOF. You think the QB he was traded for on draft day, Rivers, will get in? His numbers are better than Eli's. But PR holds the record for most playoff starts by a QB without getting to the Super Bowl. That's a bad thing for a QB.

rivers might... but he is a huge notch below ELi... anyone who played for that long is on the HOF fence...

But Rivers has a reputation of FINDING ways to lose... that is going to hurt him... and he has nothing that really helps his case besides playing forever... He does have the second most consecutive starts... so maybe they would put their hat on that stat...

Rivers has no MVPs, no All Pros, no Super Bowls (not even an appearance). His only major award is comeback player of the year for 2013. He does not belong in the Hall of Fame.

Manning not only won 2 Super Bowls, he was the MVP for both. He'll get in.

Manning was just on the right team at the right time. Defense & rushing was the main staple of those teams.
If he doesnt start his last game of his career. He ends up under .500 for his career. This is a career where he played on teams that won 2 superbowls.
Now he may get in for the very reasons you used, but he doesnt belong in the HOF. He is a new age Jim Plunkett.

Eli owns Tom Brady.

That's enough for any accolades anyone wants to give him.

There is not a qb that is a two time Super Bowl MVP that isn't in the HoF. Eli won't be the first.

Still doesnt deserve to be in.

Warren Moon didn’t have any of those awards either. Not saying he should get in but that wouldn’t necessarily be the reason.

He shouldn't have gotten the first SB MVP, that should have gone to a defensive player or Tyree. I don't think he'll have any trouble getting in, but I wanted to point that out.

Outrageously & sadly, one of the most least respected QB's of all time when paired with his accomplishments.

And ironically his brother is the complete opposite ... There stats are not so far apart to explain the God like treatment Peyton gets.
He should be embarrassed to wear that 2nd super bowl ring.

Retiring Eli's number is the least they should do for him.

The new age Jim Plunkett? You ever compare their numbers? Don't get me wrong, Eli's the definition of mediocre. But his numbers are much better than Plunkett's.

Manning- 60.3 passing percentage / Plunkett- 52.5

Yeah Eli threw a bunch of int's. But his TD to int. ratio is nowhere near as bad a Plunkett's.

366 TD's & 244 int's / 164 TD's & 198 int's

Only thing they really have in common statistically is playoff wins. Manning: 8-4 / Plunkett: 8-2. But Plunket threw more playoff int.'s (12) than TD's (11). Eli's playoff TD to int. ratio is 18/9.
