I would venture Carew as a guess, too. Not many 18-time All-Stars. I grew up in MN, and the Twins lost twice to the O's in the playoffs, and the Angels lost to the O's once as well. Don't remember anything about the Brewers, unless it was the 1982 team with Yount and Molitor.

Angels lost to Brewers in ALCS in 1982 in five games. That Brewer team won 95 games. Cecil Cooper, Paul Molitor, Don Money and Gorman Thomas were the core hitters. Don Sutton and Pete Vukovich were the aces. They lost to the Keith Hernandez, Lonnie Smith, Joaquin Andujar, Bruce Sutter Turdinals 4 games to 3 in the WS.

Carew was "outed" as a Jew in an Adam Sandler parody song. The "outing' was strictly a spoof - probably needed his name to rhyme something else, like "Jew" maybe?.

"...O.J. Simpson... not a Jew! But guess who is: Hall of Famer Rod Carew! He converted!"

Carew, caught on camera at Los Angeles Internatioanal Airport, was asked if he was Jewish.

"No, I am not," Carew said. "I was about to convert, but I never did. I think Adam found out about that."

Carew and Sandler have since become friends.

For you Biblical scholars out there, and I know there's a lot of you, I found cal's guess of "Aaron" amusing because Aaron was Moses' brother and the first high priest. To "prove" to the Egyptians that he had real power, God gave Aaron a staff or rod ("Aaron's rod") which would turn into a snake and back to a rod at Aaron's beckoning.

So the connection of "Aaron" and "Rod" and "Carew" I found worthy of Wheel of Fortune's "Before and After" category, all the more so given the (non-)Jewish overtone to the whole thing.

I am one of 8 players to belong to the 300-300 club. (Homeruns and steals).
I was drafted in the 7th round in 1987.
In 1990 I was named the top prospect by Baseball America.
I went to the ballot for the first time in 2013 and received ZERO votes.

Who am I?

Sounds like Canseco, but the time frame is off.

The zero votes must be because of 'roids, I would guess.

I don't think it is Mike Trout. He is too modern.

Kevin Bass was just not that good.

Catfish Hunter was already in the Hall...

I have no idea...

Did he ever play for the Marlins?

There's a few candidates from this draft. Ken Griffey and Biggio were part of this draft. But they are obviously HOFers. Hmm.

With a career total of 305 homeruns and 304 steals, I never once lead the league in homeruns OR steals. My career high in homeruns was 33 (once) and steals was 36 (twice)

He did not. He did, however, spend 1 year with the Giants and 2 with the Cardinals (see what I did there?)
????

I thought we were talking Tim Salmon. Obviously not...

The game survived Matt Nokes. It can survive Reggie Sanders...
