If you know and understand football defense, you have to put the blame on BB for never making the adjustment."Jennings and Bentley were New England’s two lowest-graded defenders by Pro Football Focus in the loss. San Francisco rushed for 197 yards and four touchdowns and averaged 7.4 yards per play."
The Patriots have been fundamentally weak against anything that operated against them to the edge. They have never drafted for speed. Belichick has certain criteria that he has always looked for because it has historically worked. 6'3" 265 lb OLBs who can attack at the line of scrimmage are a thing of pre 2015. Speed is essential but so is having a plan that cuts off the edge.
How often have we seen our DL lumbering after a Mahomes, Watson or Jackson while they run for a first down on third and eighteen??
Bill's game plans are excellent, he just doesn't have the horses to get into the race.
