The jags are not a blitzing team. I believe I saw where they only blitzed about 12% of the time. The Jags try to focr thr pocket in towards the middle to take away the QB's ability to 'step up'. This is Brady's technique and if the Jags can keep him from stepping up, he'll tend to throw a bit off his back foot. What I think we'll see is a quick RB release to the right or left and a very quick release screen. This is a huge problem for the jags. They send four DL, have 2 LBs about 8-10 yards off the line ready to cover, two corners covering off the line and three deep. The quick screen generally gives up 5-7 yards before the LBs can react and what the Jags will have to do is get into a 4-3-2-2 and the third LB is 33 year old Paul Polouzney (? SP) who was burned by Gronk in the preseason and two years ago in athe regular season. The jags do NOT match up well with patriots.
They do get consistent pressure without blitzing, I will be curious to see how the quick passes work against very fast LB corp

Hope they activate Mitchell... vastly superior to Britt or Dorsett

FOXBORO, Mass. — Two players were absent from New England Patriots practice Wednesday, and it’s unlikely we’ll see them back on the field until next season.

Wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell was not spotted at practice hours before the team’s deadline to move him from injured reserve to the 53-man roster. The Patriots still have until 4 p.m. ET to do so, but it appears Mitchell has been shut down for the season.

Cornerback and special teams standout Jonathan Jones also missed practice after leaving Saturday’s divisional-round win over the Tennessee Titans with an undisclosed injury. A new wide receiver wearing No. 17 — possibly return specialist Bernard Reedy — was present at practice, as was the entire Patriots’ practice squad, indicating the team likely placed Jones on IR and promoted a player to its active roster.

LaAdriann Waddle was at practice. He spent the entire session riding a stationary bike. He bruised his knee Saturday and is expected to play this Sunday.

Johnson Bademosi, a six-year NFL veteran who was inactive in Saturday's game, projects to fill part of the void left by Jones' absence.

I hope the Jags win. I'd like to see another team in the SB besides the Patriots.

Why?? The best deserve to be there and the Patriots are the best. You can't deal with that, your problem. The Jags would shit all over themselves in the big game. Their talking smack and crap and doing it publicly. Like one reporter said...."Listening and watching these guys is like kids trying to get a girl out of a prom dress."

Sucks about Jones, but this defense turned the corner when Badassmossi was starting, so I think we are fine there. I am more worried about MM long term. This was the same knee he had issues with in college.

I think Britt will be active along with the 3 RB's and 3 TE's. That could be pretty dangerous esp in 5 wide like Ken talked about. But, IF the OL cannot slow that DL down, then 5 wide might not work. If Jax sits their LB deep and wait on Gronk to cross, you better believe Lewis, Rex or White will be 3 yards behind him getting those short passes. This Pats offense is geared for this type of defense. Quick, short passes and keep the defense on the field. Now if TB is hurt and can't throw the ball....then it's anyone's guess.

Even if the Patriots are in the Super Bowl you'll get to see a team besides the Patriots. They do have to play somebody.

:hellno:
This is professional sports based on competitiveness and so don't want to see them in the superbowl unless they deserve to be there. There is no participation prize in professional sports. There shouldn't be sympathy for teams who haven't been there in a while, just because the Patriots have made it to the superbowl recently.

Like I said in another thread, maybe this one........why do people hate excellence? If you want to hate, hate the people running your favorite team for not doing what is necessary to win in the regular season that would put them in the playoffs. Instead, hate the Patriots for drafting and signing free agents that fit their 'system'. If I owned the Jets, Bills or Dolphins, I certainly wouldn't be sitting back saying to myself, "Maybe next year". My GM and coach would be in my office telling me exactly what they planned to do to be competitive next year. If the team didn't improve, they wouldn't be sitting in my office next year. Don't tell me how you plan to catch the patriots, tell me what you're going to do to beat them twice. It starts with ownership. If the owner is too lazy to get involved with the team operation, then that laziness just trickles down.

:agree: Its probably hard to stay objective if one's team always does the same thing and surprise...get's the same result. But, the hate and cynicism regarding Brady's success gets old to hear for us fans too. Just imagine what they would have said about the original ten, had there been internet and social media back then.
