Do you really expect professional athletes to throw a game just to make the fans happy? They all want to win, its what they trained for their entire life.
It was there NBA equivalent of the Washington Wizards beating a G league team. Is that really winning? That Milton TD throw has int written all over it against a legit defense.

No, but the coach might.

Do you think winning a 4th game is what they trained for? Did a 4th win really give them a warm fuzzy? Not sure why, but they actually seemed prepared for the game. A lot of energy during pre game that's been missing most of the year. Most looked like they quit halfway through the season.

Here's what they lost: a number 1 for next year from a lousy team. It would have been fun rooting for that to become another truly impactful player. Sure, there's no guarantee that's what they would have received or that would have ended up low enough. But precedence says there was a decent chance.
Quantity is the key. You can package those picks to move up if there is a player you really like.

Here is what we learned yesterday.

1. Yes, this team can screw up a free lunch.
Yup. Hopefully those days are over.
2. Milton looked good albeit against the Bills scrubs but still NFL players/
That's good.
3. Milton is not or should not be trade bait.
I said all along, Maye and Milton's games are very similar. If he is a very good backup, Pay him very good.
4. WR and QB needy teams ahead of us won't really mess with the potential players we would have drafted.
No, but we could have added a 1st round pick for next year (or more) and still been picking where we are.
5. We need to really look into an O Line coach no one seems to be talking about this.
We need a lot of coaches. HC, OC, OL,
6. America gets to watch the Browns draft the wrong QB yet again!
I just hope the Pats don't do something stupid.

I'm not a believer of that system. It ignores the value of the actual players being drafted. Not only are draft classes different in quality from year to year, they're also different in terms of depth. Some years it's top heavy and other not, but still deep.
It is a starting point though.

Leave it up to the Patriots to F up a good thing! Win a game they needed to lose. Do I have any confidence the Pats would have used the # 1 pick and actually picked well? Absolutely not but they would have gotten a good haul for it, which they absolutely needed!!!

Do I think the players on the field were excited about winning? Fuck yeah they were did you not see the sideline? It's ridiculous to assume or ask professional athletes to throw a game so we can move up in the draft. Players and coaches would never expect that only fans are delusional about the idea. Another factor is the men that were out are not only trying to win but they are showcasing their skill for any other team that be looking. The notion of throwing a game is something any professional athlete probably scarfs at.

A buddy of mine mentioned a good point... Players aren't going to want to "play" to get replaced so of course they wouldn't want a # 1 pick

WIth that said.. it's just hilarious how the Pats F'd this all up

Yeah, maybe! I do think Milton looked decent albeit against back ups. He still needs to get those feet planted and step into his throw but those are teachable skills / traits.

Yeah I don't know anymore. All I know is that the Patriots have even more work to do with this draft and with them keeping Wolfe I have absolutely ZERO confidence in them improving this team

I keep saying we need an O Line coach which most people are not responding to but that for me is a huge issue

I think most of us agree and have stated at one time or another that they need an Oline coach. AVP and Mayo gone so who knows what the new OC will do?

There is still time for Wolfe to get his walking papers. Not likely but we can hope.

I agree that most don't want to lose. But having back-to-back 4 win seasons isn't something a player wants to be part of. Minus the scrubs trying to make a name for themselves this win did absolutely nothing. The coaching staff has already been dismantled so they take nothing from it. A handful of those players won't return, maybe they sign on with someone else? The vets unless playing for incentives were likely like I just don't want to get hurt. Fans are disgruntled not that it matters minus the revenue they bring in. Kraft's and GM probably ticked off?

Sometimes you need to see the trees through the Forrest. Sometimes you need to sacrifice a little to gain a lot.

I guess we're lucky the only played Maye one series and Gonzo was on IR.

Damn it! Some of the players acted like they won a championship with the "nobody thought we could do it" attitude. Ummmm, nobody thought you WOULD DO IT, not COULD DO IT.

Exactly. This was like the only game the players looked excited to play in. WTF?

Win one for Mayo the "players coach"?

Hey guys.....let's all think about this from a player's perspective. None of them want to be replaced. They all want a paycheck in 2025. The thing any player wants is for his team to have the #1 pick in the next draft. Every player knows that he could be replaced by #1 and the Patriots OL know that they are holding on by a thread smaller than the width of a spider's single web string.

That being said, any plyer worth his weight would celebrate a win. Especially guys like Rice, Elliss, Austin and Jackson. All of the guyswho were added to the 53 man roster felt like they had been successful in giving the coaches and Wolfe something to consider when looking at who must be cut from this team come the end of next month.

Congrats to the guys who finally got to show what they could do. F*ck you to the guys they replaced.

Well if all these players wanted to win so much, maybe they should've practiced harder, hit the gym a little bit more, studied the playback, played for the team instead of individual stats, stopped with the mental mistakes and stupid penalties. A handful of these players appeared to give up prior to mid season.

I have no sympathy for a guy who gets cut. Eat or be eaten.

So many of these players have grown up in the participation trophy era. Then given everything because they were star athletes at the HS and college level.

Now it's time to earn a paycheck.

Zero sympathy
