I don't see a point in rushing him back. Chances of making the playoffs were slim with him. Shut him down so he can maybe be healthy enough to contribute next year

All that doughnut training he did in the offseason really helped. I sure hope he actually takes the offseason serious for next year because he finally gets to be a part of a playoff push this year and just can't stay healthy. Slim up Felix, you're not fooling anyone!!!

Well, his health has deteriorated over the last 2 seasons. His arm has a ton of innings on it. As the injuries have come the numbers have gone.

We get to see what Marco Gonzales is all about. Or should I say we don't have a choice

He may not be a position player, but he needs to learn some plate discipline.

Geezuz. Felix is done. Had all winter to re-cooperate from the 2016 season and only made 5 starts before breaking down. Had another two months to re-cooperate and only made it 8 starts before breaking down again. He probably needs an operation that he has been avoiding for the last year and a half.

Can they do a rotator cuff and a Tommy John at the same time? LOL.

I think he has just given up. I've heard speculation that he might need Tommy John.

so much for the intense offseason program he had with that Iron Glen guy. At least he was ready to pitch in the WBC like the rest of our starters :trash:

Can't be that desperate. Dude has not pitched to the value of his contract in 3 of the last 4 years. He's owed $65 million guaranteed for the rest of this, 2018, and 2019. If this org pissed away money like the Yankees, Red Sox, or Dodgers, I'd say, "Yeah, sure, why not," But they don't, so Verlander is not an option unless the Tigers are willing to eat about...well, what? At least $30 million, right? And they won't do that. Even if we gave them Heredia and Haniger they still wouldn't do it.

Yeah the money thing is an issue for sure... would love to have him though down the stretch, even though he's not pitched like his usual self he's very capable of dominating still and turning that around...

He is better than any #4 or #5 that we can currently run out there so I am with you. They have saved up enough money over the last couple decades to afford him.

He's 2.51/1.05 since the break so his trending the right way. But this org will never assume a contract like that. We are more in tune to the Erasmus Ramerizes of the world. Maybe if we didn't already have a billion dollars of dead money allocated to Felix.....

The whole problem with Verlander is, if Jerry were smart, he would've already asked ownership about him. Giving up prospects for Verlander and taking on part of the contract had to have been turned down. No way they inherit the entire contract.
