Oh I know you did.

I've still got lots left before I run out so no panic here.
I still have Pierce Brown's second trilogy to start. Those will take me some time.

But I need a break from the sci fi books for a minute.

Reading a YA book called Nevermoor. A friend said it was really good, so why not. Should be a quick read.

If I can't get into a book by end of chapter 3 I dump it.

I've read the first 5 and waiting for the release date for the 6th so I can re-read number 5 to lead up to it. Good series.

If you are into history, I am reading a great book upload_2020-5-28_7-16-13.jpeg It details the lives of sailors in the British navy in the mid 18th through mid 19th centuries. Fascinating that the sailors who were victims of the press gangs eventually accepted, and some thoroughly enjoyed, life in the navy.

Anyone ever read any Brian McClellan? I just started the Powder Mage Trilogy and I'm hooked. Really pretty good.

finally got The Last Argument of Kings by Joe Abercrombie on my Kindle. Been looking forward to wrapping up that trilogy for a while.

I also got The Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb to listen to on my drive to NJ this weekend. I am trying to decide between that and The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune that I got on Audible.

going to be finishing Joe Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy soon with a couple random books laying around to read next.

Really a great, bloody series with some great characters. I am looking forward to reading the one offs and second trilogy.

Has anyone read The Steel Crow Saga by Paul Krueger?

It looks like the fantasy writing community is cancelling him for being a racist asshole.

Red Rising

I was jonesing for some Expanse and thought Red Rising might be something similar. Didn't even read the description before buying it. Had no idea it was a kids book and a Hunger Games rip off (I read the HG when my daughter asked me to 10 years ago... should have been titled "what we wore during the revolution".).

Still. It's not bad. I ended up enjoying it even if it's not the most original idea. I might have to do some homework to see if the story "grows up" or just continues to be a YA kids series. Undecided on whether to continue or not.

Red Rising is in no way a kids book. It's fucking gore and blood. If you are letting your kid read that...that's fucked up.

and I would say it grows up...or at least stays about the same.

I don't think anyone categorizes the Red Rising series as a YA book.
