I have a never ending "to read" list

I'm a "promiscuous reader," generally have several books going at the same time. A paperback for the subway, a self-help/personal interest topic, some kind of hardback history or current events for the bedside, and then I try to read whatever my kids have been assigned in school so I have an idea of how to help them with homework related to it.

I usually have 1 or 2 going at a time...right now it's a Sam Sykes book and The Spy and The Traitor on my bedside table

finished Seven Blades in Black last night. Really enjoyed it. The main character is pretty great and the writing style is a lot of fun. Good character depth and everything.

Already preordered the Audible version. Once he finishes all ten, I may look for a nice hardbound set, but that's still years in the future. At least he puts out books all the time and I enjoy his other series.

been working my way through Joe Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy and eventually the subsequent spinoffs. Really good writer and really fun to follow the different story threads.

I just can’t do the physical copy anymore. It’s so much more convenient for me to have a Kindle version and access it all from anywhere. The only exceptions are ones where pictures are important like certain cookbooks or physical exercise type stuff.

Its also nice to have a good library and not have a lot of extra crap around the house.

I hear ya on this part. We had so many books for years and nowhere to put any more. E-readers help free up some shelf space. But i still can't totally give up paperbacks

Been (slowly) reading The Expanse series by whatever the pen name is. Its 2 guys that work/have worked for George RR Martin as assistants and or whatever. They keep pumping out new books and a bunch of novellas. I'm on I think book 7 of 8 right now. I dont usually care for sci fi, but this one is fun enough that I can overlook the aspects I dont like. It has a very "Firefly" type feel to it if you liked that show.

The series on Netflix is pretty good too. But they're only up to like book 4 or so I think.

Also just bought and plan to (slowly) read A Gentleman in Moscow. Not really my type of book but a friend who has read most all of my favorite fantasy type stuff says this is the single best written book he's ever read. So I'll give it a shot. Even if its just to have proof that he's wrong.

yeah, I'm probably a publishers wetdream. I often buy two versions of a book...one e-reader version to have when I'm out and about and one hard copy version, because I much prefer that when lounging around the house or at a coffee shop.

I use the library a lot, but when I find a series I really like, I like to invest in the set

I am however running out of space in my bookshelf

I’m currently reading about L’Alpe d’Huez in the Tour de France...The Tour is Won on the Alpe. It’s a series of vignettes about each year the Alpe was included in the Tour and it’s impact on the race overall.

For those that may not know, L’Alpe d’Huez is a bit of a mecca for cyclists. Famous for its 21 switchbacks, it’s almost 9 miles in length and rises to 6100 feet with an average gradient of 8%.

It’s definitely a bucket list item for me.

been reading Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series, which is essentially his character similar to Harry Dresden or Sandman Slim. It is enjoyable, mindless silly fantasy, but I am liking it.

Trying to finish House of God, which is a Catch-22 type novel but in a hospital...not great, but readable. Can't wait to be done it though so I can get back to reading garbage :)

Finished The Tour is Won the Alpe. Started Coyote Blue by Christopher Moore on my e-reader. The guy is hysterical.

also started The Greatest Knight in hardcover. It’s a bio on William Marshal, medieval knight in the service of Henry II, Richard the Lionheart, Eleanor of Aquitaine, King John, etc.

Sandford's Prey. 9 in. But no more till post holocaust.

Library closed, refuse to e-read.

So going to re-read my Wilbur Smith Courtney series. African adventure rocks. Fills you in a wee bit about a continent you don't give a lot of thought to.

It isn't Tarzan yelling "Kreegah!! Bundolo!!" at Cheetah and Tantor.
