Landon Collins is one Hell of a football player, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a bigger contract than Thomas because of the age difference

I agree. He will get paid more then Earl. I think he is out of Cowboys price range. This Tank thing is a problem.

Man it shouldn't be. Give the guy $20 million per over 5 years with a $40 million signing bonus, give him a first year salary of $1 million and 2nd year of $4 million, giving you a 1st year cap hit of $9 million, and extend him or cut him in year 4 or 5 depending on how he plays. I really don't get the hold up. This guy bleeds Silver and Blue, works his ass off, is a leader, and a great player to boot. Get it done.

I would be shocked if Collins gets a higher average salary than Earl. I'd even be very surprised if he even gets close to what ET gets. He may get more total dollars because he may get a longer deal but I don't see any chance whatsoever that he gets as much as Earl per year. He's not even in the same league as Earl from a talent perspective. IMO If a team gives Collins $10M plus per year they are going to regret it

I'm sure he will demand a higher contract but he has better long term value.

I guess Jerry won't be a big player in free agency.

He would be worth the big number IMO.
I know we are looking at extending Dak, Zeke, Coop, and that's all valid..but there is another way that is at least worth considering. What if, in addition to extending DLaw, we signed Landon Collins, another starting caliber safety later in the summer at a bargain rate, and a mid level run stuffer. Let Dak play out the last year of his rookie deal, run the tires off Zeke the next two years, and let Coop play for his $14 million this year. Collins and DLaw are young guys, that D might be top 5 for several years. If we get to NFCCG, there will be ways to clear money to resign the offensive guys next year. Goodbye to Witten, Sean Lee, Crawford, and maybe even TSmith or La'el Collins if their play doesn't start to match their salaries..in the mean time, draft accordingly the next two years, heavy at OL, WR, RB, TE.. and yes, a QB or two just in case. If those guys can't win big with that D, they never will

Well, we can't say we didn't sign a safety:

FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys have made their first free-agent signing of the offseason, by re-signing safety Darian Thompson to a one-year contract.

Sometimes I wonder if heath has photos of cowboys brass doing something bad. How can the front office not see that heath should be a backup?
Heath should be #5 safety/special teams. I just think of the impact Darren Woodson had back in the day. Right now, the back end is where teams attack us. If you put a Thomas(or Collins or Badger) back there, with JSmith and LVE on the 2nd level, there would be a lot of ways to attack. My other suggestion would be to look at the impact DT Danny Shelton had in the Super Bowl, and the way the Rams ran it down our throats in the playoffs, and go get a big, ugly NT

Jerry has too much control over football decisions and should give that power back to the personnel dept.

A typical Dallas blunder.

I'm sure I'll get attacked for this but why don't the Cowboys go all out on acquiring Nick Foles in free agency and then trading Dak to some gullible team.

I dont get why the cant give Lawrence a good offer. Seems like they are going down the same path they took with Anthony Spencer years ago. The thing is DLaw is way better. Will a team forfeit 2 1st round picks,? Not likely. Cowboys are way too thin on DL to not resign Dlaw. The pass rush will be a joke if he is not resigned

The badger is someone I wanted the cowboys to draft. The badger and woods would be a great duo

If it gets Ugly why not Trade him? I know our Dline is weak but you cant pay everybody the sky.
Same with Dak he is not going to be worth what Jerry will give Him. Long conversation about how Dallas could manage by being preemptive about players. I will try to get back to post about it over the weekend. I love both guys but sometimes you just have to be real callous about the business side of things.
