I don't think any suspension is needed, but the NFL should ban anyone not directly involved with the game from being near the field the only exception being media, because they do have to be near to do their jobs. Tell fatty to go stand near the fans because thats the job he's there for.

Dom is fat and fat jokes are still acceptable, so commenting on this thread is fun. By itself, this incident isn't a big deal. It didn't affect the outcome of the game and everyone was buddy buddy afterwards, including Shanahan, Lynch, Sirianni, and DiSandro.

However, what every fan should want, whether you are a Niners, Eagles, Cowboys fan or whatever, is that the league nip this in the bud before some more significant incident occurs. You don't want a playoff game affected because some staff member of some team initiated contact with a player on the opposing team. Your idea is good.

I have specifically said he should not be fired (I could care less if he is fired or not). But he injected himself into a situation that he had no business getting involved in. He should not have sideline access again. Security has no business getting involved with players on the field.
He can’t be director of security if he is banned from the sideline and that’s why I said if you had your way, you’d be taking from him his livelihood. A man in his post needs to be on the field to coordinate all of the moving pieces in security. The man in his position, going back to the Andy Reid days, walks side by side with the head coach on game day in the stadium.

Agreed, the issue is less Greenlaw's punishment as how to prevent what people upthread have talked about, having non-players on the sideline just there to taunt and mess with players on the other team to get them both ejected
That’s not what happened. In theory, any non-player sideline personnel can engage in what people fear will happen. Are we now going to say all non coach, non player personnel is to be removed from the sideline? That’s not possible. You have medical staff. You have media. You have photographers. You have security. Etc…

He put his livelihood in jeopardy when he made it about him and got into it with a player. This isn't some drunk fan that ran onto the field. If this was an employee of CSC or BEST or whatever security company is at the Linc, he's already fired and probably facing misdemeanor charges.

He went full bouncer mode out of whatever titty bar that Siriani hired him out of. That's fine with drunk fans, but you can't touch the players. Only players, coaches and refs should be on the sidelines.

Players
Coaches
Medical personnel
Credentialed media (includes technical support - boom holders, media assistants, etc)
Team/League executives (and/or specifically cleared “guests”)
Game officials (refs, umps, etc)

These are the only people who should be allowed “on the grass”. There should be a “track” between the “grass” and the stands. This is the area where security and other technical personal should be allowed.

No reason security has to be that close to the field as a regular posting. And if it is determined that there needs to be security in the “inner circle”, that security should be league employed, not team employed.

But they are all unbiased professionals. This guy got in Greenlaw’s face like he was a player/fan. That disqualifies him from the professional position of being in that physical spot.

Did you even see these events? “Got into it”?!?!? He’s trying to part two players that were grabbing each other to beef. He’s the opposite of “got into it” with a player.
This isn't some drunk fan that ran onto the field. If this was an employee of CSC or BEST or whatever security company is at the Linc, he's already fired and probably facing misdemeanor charges.
But it is. He has a place on the field. A fight breaks out in front of him and he tried to part the two parties.
He went full bouncer mode out of whatever titty bar that Siriani hired him out of.
WTF?!?!? Are you serious with this?
That's fine with drunk fans, but you can't touch the players. Only players, coaches and refs should be on the sidelines.
Then let’s fire Greenlaw. This goes both ways. Greenlaw can’t put hands on non-players. Be consistent. Why aren’t you calling for his livelihood? Greenlaw actually has a history of being ejected from games. You’re coming for the wrong man here if your choice is to be taking jobs from people over nonsense.

Just post your credentials in security. The man in his post (Butch before him) has always walked all over the field and sideline with the head coach. That must indicate that they’ve assessed a threat to the head coach. In the other thread, you were doing your Philly Fans Are the Devil lazy virtue signaling but now you’re stepping out and you’re saying that you know all about what kind of a threat to the safety of personnel exists and what doesn’t?
And if it is determined that there needs to be security in the “inner circle”, that security should be league employed, not team employed.

Just wanted to use this space to remind you that you won. The score was 42-19. The Niners looked great. They looked like the best team in football.

And you are 48 hours later crying over nonsense. I don’t want to hear any push back anymore when the culture around the NFL refers to your fanbase as the Forty Whiners. You’re still crying about this.

You have zero integrity. As a human being, absolutely zero integrity. You have continually misrepresented this exchange in seemingly every post. Two players are pushing each other after the play. Dom gets in to break it up as people have been doing with shit like this for decades in sports. Then Greenlaw comes at him and puts his finger in his face. When you need to misrepresent what happened to try and make it worse than what it was all you’re trying to do is dig yourself out of the Karen you dug for yourself. This is much ado about nothing and you want wholesale changes made to systems and the way things have been done for years.

Bwahahaha! According to a dolt with no integrity with some sort of ax to grind after a

42-17 WIN!!!!

Holy shit, you have completely lost it.

In “the other thread”, I posted twice. Once in response to a vid of a couple getting completely decimated by snowballs in Philly by saying “Classy.” And once with a joke comment about Marlins fans pelting opposing fans with snowballs. That’s it.

As far as having a security dude stationed on the coaches hip is due to a specific security threat is completely BS and made up here on the spot. He has been in that position for 30+ years, and many other teams have a like position. I am saying that is a hole in the integrity of the game, and ALL teams should either remove that position, or the security should be a league employee rather than a team employee to remove any “fandom” leaking in, like what clearly happened in this situation.

As far as “The Niners won, forget about it!” argument, the game was still in doubt when this happened. The score was 21-6 with the Eagles marching, early in the 3rd. But even if it was 49-0, the score doesn’t matter. The issue is about having a non-game-related, team official that close to the on-field action. He didn’t have to be there. And he was just acting like a fan or a member of the Eagle-posse.

”Crying about this 48 hours later”? The fucking sports world is talking about this. And rightfully so. This is a hole in how the NFL controls the sideline, and it WILL be addressed (maybe not immediately, but this off-season, for sure).

You're running hot right now. I'm sorry for the titty bar comment, I thought you'd see that as an obvious joke.

Greenlaw should be punished, but Dom should be too. I've never seen a head of security get into it with a player during a game, because I don't think that it has ever happened. And Greenlaw has no way of knowing that Dom is security and not a strength coach getting in his face. As he's surrounded by the entire opposing team.

I'm not calling for Dom's job, just pointing out that if he was lower on the food chain, he'd already be gone. But he needs to slow his roll, take a week off and go from there.

This whole thing is funny as hell. It's like straight out of a sitcom. The guys involved even have names that you would expect from sitcom characters. Dre and Big Dom.
