The Eagles are better than the Patriots...so it’s certainly possible we could put up some points on the Bears. They’ve got a tough D. I’m looking forward to the game.
The Eagles HAVE to be more balanced offensively if they want to score on this Bears defense. I think this game plan will be a ton of rpo quick slants to Nely and I suspect the Bears will be smothering Ertz all game, which will allow Goeddart to have targets.

Well, every team is different at different points of the season. Pats were hitting a stride at that point, and even then, 14 of their points came on Special Teams.

True. I don’t expect the Eagles to put up a ton of points. I’m thinking somewhere between 20 and 24 gets the job done though.

Who will be at QB? Haven't read anything yet.
Nick Foles is cleared to play. I'll look up the source. It showed up that his xray came back negative for broken rib.

I like that the Bears played to win against the Vikes, knowing full-well who their opponents would be. I wouldn't want a flukey championship. If they want to be the best, they need to beat the best.

Remember Foles took on one of the best Defenses in the league in last year's playoffs (Vikes) and tore them apart. Not saying that will happen against the Bears ... but anything's possible.

I believe Foles has been cleared to play. If for some reason that changes, I believe that Nate Sudfeld would be the starter.

I’ll post this here rather than its own thread but here are Alshon Jeffery’s stats for the last 4 games (he’s heating up!).

9 targets, 6 catches, 50 yards, 1 TD
8 targets, 8 catches, 160 yards
5 targets, 3 catches, 82 yards
5 targets, 5 catches, 59 yards, 1 TD

He actually ended up with decent totals for the year: 65 catches, 843 yards, 6 TD in 13 games.

If he played 16 games, his season averages would have been good for 80 catches, 1037 yards, 7 TD.

If he played 16 games, his recent 4 game averages would have been good for 88 catches, 1404 yards, 8 TD.

Given that he’s facing his old team and he’s been playing very well lately, I think he’s a guy to keep an eye on against the Bears.

I just brought up the fog bowl again. Maybe it’s worth calling out the 2001 divisional playoff....January, 2002 in Chicago. Bears were something like 13-3 that year with Jim Miller at QB. Weather was very nice to my recollection. And we handled them just fine.
Turbo Bird took out Miller in the first half.

The bears were extremely opportunistic that season and had an early lead against the eagles for that very reason. I think the Packers swept them that season but the bears still won the division. I could be thinking of the wrong season.

Bears have allowed 2 TDs in the their last 4 games, and both of those came off drives that were extended by questionable officiating.

Bears have given up 11 TDs at home all season. The vast majority of those have been garbage time.

14 to Seattle - both garbage time
7 to Bucs - garbage time
14 to Pats - worst game of the year for them
7 to Jets - garbage time
14 to Detroit - both in garbage time
14 to Vikes - both garbage time
7 to Packers garbage time.

Legitimately the only earned offensive TDs against them at home all year was the Pats.

Anything can happen, but don't expect to come in there and drop 30 on em' unless there is a Defensive TD or on ST.

I’ve not seen anyone that says we will come into Chicago and drop 30 on them. Even the reports of 20-24 I find dubious.

It’s going to be a slog. Hopefully we can slog down Mitch and Co too. I see something like 13-10, either way.

Less than 1/2 hour till 2019.

Raise your glass or bottle to an Eagles victory Sunday over the Bears! It’s payback time! :suds:

Tonight is the 30th anniversery of the notorious fog bowl in Chicago, 1988, when the Bears pulled out the win, 20-12, despite Randall throwing for 400 yards. Visability was about five yards. Happy New Year!

Five yard visibility you say? BDN would have hung at least 400 on them too. I remember that game....I can’t say it was really on Randall and Nick would have won the game.

Of course....as the picture attests above....I can’t really say it was or wasn’t on any one player. Back in those days they had about three cameras on the game; all about 1/8 mile from the action. I remember at one point they got some cameras on the sideline (it helped minimally). The views, that seem so natural these days, were so alien in 1989.

Also, one could say we got our payback on January, 2002. Either way....it’s just fucking win time!

...after Miller was knocked out of the game. The Bears had no depth at QB.
