"Oklahoma City will be without Kevin Durant for an undetermined amount of time, as the Thunder star has been diagnosed with a Jones fracture in his right foot.

The team announced Durant's injury in a press release, noting that this type of injury usually requires surgery and 6-8 weeks of recovery.

"We are in the process of collaboratively evaluating the most appropriate next steps with Kevin, his representatives, and Thunder medical personnel," general manager Sam Presti said in a statement. "Until a course of action is determined, we are unable to provide a timeline specific to Kevin's case."

At least you'll get to see Russ take 35FGA on 39% shooting.

Sucks for OKC, but better that it happens now rather than after the All-Star break.

If you can do the Math, he should be back by mid December at latest.

Today is October 12th, 6 weeks from now is November 23rd and 8 weeks from now is December 7th. My guess is he return somewhere between those 2 dates

The normal recovery is 6 to 8 weeks but they won't know until the surgery is performed. And there is no reason whatsoever to lie about it.

Durant will miss 6 weeks minimum and I bet it's at least 8.

He was a top candidate in the fantasy draft. I'm wondering if someone will draft him early and stash him

Not sure who came up with 6 to 8 weeks as a guess, but that looks way too optimistic unless they meant 6-8 weeks of regular season play.

Rotoworld provided some analysis of recent players who have had the same injury. Every one missed more than 8 weeks with C.J. McCollum missing close to 12. The real scary thing is that Brook Lopez was a model of health before his Jones fracture. Not the best injury to have.
