"There is some concern that Duffy may wear down in the season’s final two months, especially with the Giants facing a stretch of games in hot-weather cities. He acknowledges the need to hydrate and eat frequently to keep his fast metabolism fueled."

Duffy's response? 3 singles, 1 double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base.

I don't think Duff will get it considering how much ESPN likes to gobble Bryant's cawk at every given opportunity, thus shaping the narrative that Bryant is more deserving. But I like that Duff is at least making it into the conversation by rags NOT named SF Chron.

Bryant would not even make ballot right now.

As of a week ago, I had my ballot as..

1) Pederson
2) Duffy
3) Heston

...with Grichuk and Thor just off the ballot. I think these 5 are pretty much interchangeable, though, so if someone else has a different order, you really can't argue.

Having 2 of the top 3 be Giants is pretty homerish, especially this year. You can make a case sure, but no way they are 2 and 3 in the actual vote.

I agree that will not be the actual ballot. That may not even be MY actual ballot at the end of the year.

But for me, (as of about a week ago) Pederson is the clear #1 and Duffy, Grichuk, Heston and Thor are pretty much interchangeable for the next 4 spots.

This and Heston have similar effectiveness, but Thor has a lot more Ks and Heston has a lot more innings.

Duffy and Grichuk are very comparable as well, but Duffy has about 100 more PAs.

Pederson has a nice OBP, especially for a guy with 21 bombs. But can a guy batting .222 beat out a guy with the same OBP and batting 90 points higher?

BA is ALMOST as bad a stat as W-L (not quite, but I am just trying to make a point). Pederson's OPS is still tops, and he is a bopper who caught a lot of people's imagination at the HR Derby. Duffy has shown to be almost slump-proof, and his numbers continue to improve. Maybe by the end of the year he will be at the top of my ballot. But as of a week ago (when I looked at it in detail), Pederson still had that slot.
