I'll be pleasantly surprised if we don't go iron man with 11 players. Andy Dalton could play safety if only he knew how to tackle someone without breaking his thumb.

S, DT, LB. Draft those before any offensive players. Sanu and Jones shouldn't leave unless they're both dumb enough to think they're #1s somewhere. They're pretty much co #2s here, in a good offense

Very true...I thought Sanu might take it to another level and become a #1, but he was never consistent enough.

On the flip will they pay both like #2s? If so, I can see both staying.

I can see someone overpaying Marvin Jones. He has downfield playmaking abilities and he's demonstrated them even with a guy that wasn't exactly known for his deep ball. Jones is hot and cold though.... And there is no doubt you could argue that he wouldn't make it as a top option. But that won't stop a stupid owner from making a splash.

Sanu is a weird case. If you really look at it, he had some of his best games when he played WITHOUT Green, Eifert and Jones. Wait, what? When AJ was dealing with the toe injury in 2014, Sanu was the primary target and he had some very nice games..... They weren't huge numbers, but they were solid. When everyone is healthy he tends to disappear - Or maybe he just was ignored a lot in the passing game. I also remember hearing that he doesn't necessarily light it up on the practice field, so maybe this kills his relationship with the qb. It does seem like he should be more productive than he is though - He's big, he's a strong runner and he has good hands.

I'd target to keep Jones and let Sanu walk. I think Alford can replace him in the slot, and would bring much needed speed to the slot position.

In an odd twist, McShays latest mock (version #2) has the Bengals selecting: Braxton Miller, WR, OSU. Would be intriguing opposite of AJ and of course Eifert at TE...but, my fear here is with an offense already well built to push to win...can you afford to take a kid who played WR for one year and risk it (especially if Jones and Sanu both walk) with such a raw talent opposite of AJ?

Then again, early reports out of the Senior Bowl were that there isn't another WR like him in the draft with size, speed, and agility...the kid could be a serious player at WR.

Would rather take someone who contributes Day 1. I would agree Brax has serious upside and is a very intriguing case, but with last years draft being guys who haven't seen the field yet, I'd prefer not to take a project in Round 1

Personally I want nothing to do with Miller. If the Bengals draft the kid, Kramer will be irrationally happy and predict nothing but flowers and sunshine for this offense. I just can't live in that kind of world.

You really believe anyone we take in the first is going to contribute day 1? Not happening.

Marvin doesn't trust rookie wideouts to do anything. I'm not sure he really trusts Alford, I doubt he sees the field this season. these jackasses will pull Green and Tate as #1 and #2 receiver. Sanu and Jones will get paid elsewhere. Marv doesn't like how Sanu drops passes and Jones will get paid somewhere where he's appreciated for his potential. We're stuck with Brandon Tate forever, just wait and see.

Lots of things still to happen, of course. They could also focus on CB, S, and LB as well as WR. Just depends on how F/A shakes out.

Going to be an interesting off-season.

I'll keep Sanu, he's cheaper, and can line up in more places and do more things, assuming the offense stays relatively the same.
Jones will get overpaid, probably by Hue, but he is replaceable. There are a million wide receivers out there, and whether its Jones, or a replacement, he's at best the #3 option on this offense. I'm not for spending a lot of money on receivers.

we will draft another tight end. I'm pretty sure of that. Marvin loves him some tight ends.

I don't disagree to an extent. If Jones is going to get near #1 money, then no...you don't try and sign him for that. However, if it's relatively comparable to sign Jones or Sanu, I'm going for Jones. While it's nice to watch Sanu on some trick player and such, he can stretch the field opposite of AJ. That can leave a lot of room for Eifert in the middle and a speedy slot guy.

Again, lots to play out still.

I'm okay with either.... I'm not happy with AJ, James Wright, Alford, Tate and a third round pick.

I don't care to read an entire offseason worth of Hobs talking up Rex Burkhead's versatility, Zamp's plan to run everything with 2 tight ends, or the amazing potential of James Wright.

Hopefully, they saw this year what the offense means to Dalton when you can have multiple options.

AJ, Eifert, and you need a reliable outside WR opposite AJ. Not only does it keep the defense honest, but it helps to open the middle up for Eifert.

Hopefully, Jones remembers what happens to most guys who think they are #1's or need more money and leave and end up looking like crap and regret it.

If he's worth it (and I don't know if he is) isn't there the transition tag they could apply? Though, honestly, I'd use that on Iloka, personally.

I wouldn't object to franchising Iloka, unless the tag $ lumps safeties and corners into one.

Then again, Braxton Miller could fill the Sanu role since he played a little QB too.
But the way all of these receivers keep coming up in the draft in all rounds they are easier (and cheaper) to replace than most other positions.

Either Tag on Iloka wouldn't be bad. Unless the franchise combines safeties and corners into one number.
A Jones would alsobe a good candidate for the transition, if they want to keep him and not overpay

Don't disagree with that at all.

It's at least an option that's out there.

What's the over/under on how many times Hobs calls him Super Mario or makes some other Nintendo reference before the end of training camp?

I would call it a 99% chance of Super Mario reference. his college fans all know him as Super Mario.

his problem of course is that he's smaller than most receivers so he'll get hurt. he's baby hawk the remix.
