3rd round? I've seen some Mocks that have the Bengals picking Washington in the 1st.

I stated it was a homer draft. lol I never said anything about realism. I couldn't see Washington falling past the 2nd honestly.

Maybe it would be a little more realistic if you went with:

Lee
Washington
Miller (as Miller "might" make it to the 3rd based off how raw he is as a WR)

Lets move on to the 2017 Reds

Meet the new boss.... Same as the old boss.

Unless the Cardinals are in town, there won't be much baseball worth seeing down by the river for another 3 or 4 years.

The Bengals should be exactly like they were this year.... 10-12 wins. First round loss.

remember when we left Joseph go because we couldn't afford him?

Andy better improve in the offseason and find his inner QB because this team is about to get a heck of a lot worse.

Don't be crazy. Look at the list of free agents. There are really only a few impact players on that list..... At least one of those guys (Pacman) won't have much interest from the outside.

We'll be the same that we've been.... But until all of our guys learn to not shit their pants when the lights are on, we'll continue to lose big games.

This team has done a great job over the past 5-6 years of drafting talent and getting impact from them (eventually). I think only GB has more guys on their roster that they drafted than Cincinnati. That says a lot about how well this team has done.

I think that says more that we NEVER sign FAs.

I think it speaks to the benefit of continuity.... More shitty franchises would be good if they didn't have new coordinators that needed new players every 2 seasons.

Yes, but considering how well they've drafted, and who they've retained, they've not really needed to go out and spend a boatload on some F/A.

I mean, back in the late 90's and early 00's, when everyone was talking about Pitt's drafting and NE's drafting, that's all they talked about how they drafted and kept their own players.

Sure, every now and again it would be nice to see them bring in a top tier F/A, but it's really hard to argue against what they've been doing. It's worked.

I think we've all given up on the top tier guys..... But it would be nice to see them fill out a few weaknesses with mid-level guys. An interior lineman to create competition at center, a kick-returner so you don't have to use Tate, a coverage linebacker that's at least better than Lamur. Those are all affordable items.

I don't disagree with that at all.

It would be nice to see guys that can come in and provide some competent competition for weak spots along the team. KR/PR and Center are probably the two biggest areas. Lamur was decent a year or so ago, and was disastrous this year. Not sure what happened, but I think he had an injury last year maybe? Not sure. However, with most teams using a nickel defense as base now, I'm not 100% sure you have to have that kind of LB. It's nice, but I don't think it's something you have to spend money on in F/A. At least not top money.

I would agree, except that for years we have been vulnerable to bootlegging teams and teams that have tight ends and running backs that can hurt us from run sets.... We probably saw a lot less of this this season because NFL offenses are obsessed with passing formations, but it did hurt us in the second half against Denver. Kubiak has always killed us with that stuff. I also think that linebackers are cheap free agents (for the same reasons you mention they have become devalued), so you should be able to upgrade for a reasonable price.

Well, yes...and no for the running QB's.

I think more than just having a fast/coverage type LB, you need your DL and all LB's to be disciplined in the scheme. You can't have your backside DE's and LB's crashing down and breaking containment on the outsides. You can't allow them to roll out and get outside of the defense where they are running away from defenders instead of forcing them back inside towards defenders.

Of course DT's maintaining their lanes/gaps to keep those QB's in the pocket as well. It's easy to see a LB flailing away trying to catch someone like Wilson or Newton, but the reality is, the reason those plays were is because the aggressive nature of the defensive front 7 as a whole leaves them open to those kinds of plays. Even with a faster LB in there, this defense is going to give those plays up from time to time.

I don't disagree with you though, that in the past, those things hurt. I just think there's more to it than having 1 guy to chase them down.

the older free agents, impact or not. consider them gone.

any free agents we have that are any good, consider them gone. we don't over-pay for free agents.

we will fill in with mediocre "system" guys.

same old stuff every year. you people who have been watching this stuff for several years and expect something different need to learn.

Yeah, and it's been a disasterous result, eh?

Guys who would have been top tier F/A's if they had not resigned include: Atkins, Dunlap, Whitworth, Green, Burfict, Nelson...just to name a few. So, you know, re-signing your own has also netted them top tier guys.

Some people are just stuck on complaining no matter what. You really can't argue about the approach the Bengals have had and be taken seriously anymore. You can argue about coaching and playoff losses, but the roster, for the most part, has been one of the best in the NFL on both sides of the ball for the past several years.

when I look at this list of FA's I know that the 2016 Bengals are going to be much different:

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/cincinnati-bengals/

A lot of "older" free agents. not sure we can afford to keep these older guys around, it's time to start a youth movement of sorts.

some free agents that other teams will over pay for. Mike Brown doesn't like getting into a bidding war for many players.

I'd say, pick one or two guys off this list, maybe 3 and we'll focus on these.

We've seen time and time again the hypocrisy of "sign our own".

It's also a possibility that Burfict will be gone at the next sign of trouble. I fully don't expect Jones to be asked to come back. that crap in the playoffs was unacceptable.

As much as it pains me to draft ANOTHER one, we probably have to explore TE. Eiffert is made of glass.
