Hans Crouse will start today for the Phillies. Not the AA Reading Phillies. The Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball. After the trade, Crouse posted a 3.18 ERA in 34 innings mostly in AA plus one AAA start. Crouse was slightly more walk-prone and allowed harder contact after the trade, not to say he was bad. I wouldn't think he's ready for this, and I doubt the Rangers would afford him the same opportunity were he still here. On the other hand, he was certain to be added to the 40 after the season, so the Phillies' thought is "why not have a look now?" Best of luck to him.

I will always wonder if JD has never gotten over Crouse missing Fall ball for personal reasons. JD has been known for grudges.

If you want to say that's why he would trade him, there's no way to ever really know that. But I can't imagine that JD is so petty as to put him as a throw in piece

Nope, no way to know if that had anything to do with anything. The trade is so awful though, that one is tempted to wonder if something behind the scenes was involved.

Crouse missing for personal reasons may have been completely forgotten. Or, it could have caused JD to either sour on him or lose confidence in his mental makeup. Either could make trading him much more likely eventually. Or, our front office might just be guilty of terrible judgment.

It was an emotional trade not cawed upon any metrics?

And this was a JD move without any CY input?

For me I have not idea who was the major influencer but logic thinks a GM was involved with a trade

Someone was foolish whether it had to do with very bad judgment or a failure to control a personal issue. It paints the organization in a bad light either way.

But yes, I can seriously wonder or suspect a lot of flaws. This one is more in the wonder category.
