Zach isn't a bad pick on it's own but drafting backups in the 2nd is a strange move.

It's not a backup... I expect him to get 25-30 snaps a game (about 40% of the workload).

Believe me I get that but we're needing a backup and there's always plenty to choose from in round 4 and later. It's a wasted pick. Chiefs RB was a 7th rounder.
Yeah, we had a drafted rb in the 7th round a decade or so ago that had a really good career. They are there, and maybe we still draft a rb in the 7th. You can never have too much depth there.

He's not the starter. Of course he will get lots of snaps. Most backups, outside of QB, K, and P, get lots of snaps.

Still need another ILB too unless the plan is to convert Hall to ILB. He probably can do it. He's a natural leader and team Captain from what I read.
Bush, Wagner, and Brooks are already on the roster, and if we're planning on a 4-3 base, then I really don't see that position as a need at all

We are likely going 3-4 but the other LB will be Nwosu/Taylor/Mafe/Robinson/Hall.

He's not the starter. Of course he will get lots of snaps. Most backups, outside of QB, K, and P, get lots of snaps.

What?

The positions that generally get pretty damn close to 100% of the snaps:
QB (duh)
LT
LG
C
RG
RT
ILB
WLB/SLB or EDGE
LCB
RCB
FS
SS

Basically the entire fuckin' team. Now, DL doesn't get full snaps because those guys need rest and DL are usually scheme fits so naturally you cycle them in and out. As for the RB position, it depends on the starter you have. Lynch was generally a 100% full time starter and had the strength/durability/inside style to offer that. Lynch was also a 1st round pick loaded with talent and clearly the Bills had no idea how to coach/work with his unorthodox personality.

Walker is NOT that runningback. He's a finesse runner and the guy is amazing but he is not going to hold up for 60+ snaps a season. We saw that last season and Walker was injured to start the season. Zach also offers a significant threat when coming in because 1) he can block 2) he can receive and 3) he can run... so now you're throwing off defenses even more, while giving Walker much needed rest for the next series.

Seattle didn't draft a Derrick Henry/Elliott style RB... their style has changed for Waldron's system... it's a 2 back system, and it 100% requires two competent backs to run it.

Brooks is likely out this entire season Wolvs... If we go back to a 4-3 base, fine... but I haven't heard anything on that.

I still dislike the Chabounet pick.

If we needed depth at RB. Why would not take a RB today, instead of yesterday?

Could have been better suited elsewhere....

because they have an upside down drafting philosophy:
take skill players and outside players high, leave the trenches for late round scrubs.

Didn't he finish one season with the second most tackles in the nfl?
it was a reach when they took him, and losing him made no significant difference to the defense. he is average at best, definitely NOT worth $12m

There has to be a major red flag with Henry To'oTo'o for him to still be on the board right?

https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/new...ooks-injury-update-training-camp-pete-carroll

the overly optimistic timeline is that Brooks could even br back by the start of the season, but i would expect him to be back with plenty of the season left. Plus he would then be more fresh for a possible playoff push.

Hopefully. Thanks for the link.

I wouldn't say he'll be more fresh... he'll be out of shape (naturally cause he's recovering) and not part of training camp/practice, etc.

I get these are some of the world's best athletes, but he's not going to come back 100% nor is Seattle likely to plug him in at 100% snaps for a while (which probably means longer than you think before he returns).

But hoping!

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS! Even though the modern NFL works really hard to make that a thing of the past …
TEAMS win championships. We had the #1 defense 4 straight years and did not win 4 straight championships.

I think he lacks athleticism, seems like a sure tackler and a smart player though. so we probably dont have him on our board.

Can't imagine Seattle resigning him. Guy can't cover for shit and offers no bliz skills. He's DECENT (and that's putting it nicely) as a run stuffer. DECENT. Not elite by any means. There's zero chance Seattle picks up his 5th year option at $13M (lol), so I'd assume he's gone after this year, unless he wants to sign a 1 year $2M prove it deal.
