Please be a DT with our next puck. I also wouldn't mind one of the top 3 centers currently on the board but one of them should survive to our 5th round pick
It would be a relief to have a DT drafted. However a center or ILB would be fine also.

Surprised with the way the FO has drafted but I'm mostly good with it. Hated the RB pick in the 3rd round. Could have waited later and picked up a D or O lineman.

You mean 2nd round (we traded our 3rd for the Broncos 4th and their 2024 3rd which was pretty nice).

Zach Charbonnet was a good pick though. We HAVE to get more reliable depth behind Walker otherwise we're going to break him. Like Walker Zach is NOT an inside runner but that's okay given that was not our MO last year.

Also, Zach is a pretty damn good blocker from what I read and excellent receiver.

Given: Lockett, Metcalf, Jaxon (might have the best WR trio in the league now, find me one better), Fant, Dissly, Parkinson, Walker, Charbonnet, and Lucas/Cross/Brown/Lewis/Haynes and the depth we have thanks to our 4th round pick... Seattle's offense is going to be scary to go against... There's SO many weapons and packages you can deploy with the above.

The more I think about it, the more I like the rb pick. When was the last year that we didn't have a running back injures and missing multiple weeks?

Pick is in! Cameron Young. Love it. Sounds like he is raw with high upside. Perfect

Wish granted. Young is a TAD undersized (weight wise, but that can be fixed quickly), but is a run stuffer/nose tackle through and through. He wont offer anything in the pass rush, but that's not what we need.

lol not to sound dickish, but it's Cameron. And yes he should fill in fine on run downs. He'll offer nothing in the pass rush but that's not the problem at the moment lol.

Well if Walker gets injured they only had Dallas who isn't really a guy you want for a workhorse. Charbonnet seems like someone who could take on that role and waiting might leave RBs more in the Dallas- Homer mode left to choose from.

Yeah a DT!

2nd round?!? Sorry, haven't been paying as much attention to the draft as I normally do. Welp, this makes the pick worse considering the teams needs. Yes Seattle needs a backup RB but that could have been had in later rounds. Massive miss on an opportunity to go O or D line.

Yeah I edited the name immediately. Got excited and posted too quick. Hope we draft one more dt by the end of the day

Well we addressed that today with a very good run stopper (generally useless in pass rush but that's fine) and a quality guard that can play guard or tackle. I expect both to be on the 53 man roster.

And in the event Walker breaks (he did last year momentarily) Charbonnet is an EXCELLENT second option and runs similar to Walker (outside runner). While not as fast/shifty as Walker, he can get the job done. And he 100% should ALWAYS be in on 3rd down passing situations as he blocks well and receives excellently. I felt HUGE relief after that pick because if they start marching Walker out there for 60+ snaps a game, he's going to get injured 100%.

Believe me I get that but we're needing a backup and there's always plenty to choose from in round 4 and later. It's a wasted pick. Chiefs RB was a 7th rounder.

Still need another ILB too unless the plan is to convert Hall to ILB. He probably can do it. He's a natural leader and team Captain from what I read.

Yah but a RB that fits our scheme, runs similar to Walker, and blocks/receives well (basically a LOCK for starting on 3rd down passing downs)? And when Walker was already injured a couple times last year? Yes please...

Walker is a phenom don't get me wrong, but I'm not counting on him to play 60 snaps a game for 17 games next year.... and getting a quality STARTING RB in the 5th+ rounds? Yah it can happen... but good luck with that.

Zach was VERY much a Waldron pick. He fits Waldron's scheme 100%. In fact all of our picks on offense are 100% favoring Waldron's system. I think honestly Allen and Schneider have told Waldron "The HC job is yours once Pete hangs it up or his contract expires." And I think Waldron has agreed in principle to it.

Could have had another linemen in the second. I just hate giving up premium picks on a RB early when there's a good amount of them in the mid to late rounds.

Brugler's take on Young..

STRENGTHS: Looks the part and plays the part ... puts his long arms to functional use by stacking and spilling the run ... quickly gets his hands into blockers to make first meaningful contact ... able to work various hand techniques to shed when blockers try and punch him ... shows the natural power to reset the line of scrimmage while staying square to blockers ... his attention to hand placement helps him remain stout at the point ... throws all his body weight behind his bull rush and drives his feet to force blockers to retreat ... described as a “steady presence” and the “adhesive” that keeps things together, according to defensive line coach Jeff Phelps ... durable and started 25 games the last two seasons.

WEAKNESSES: His pads rise almost immediately at the snap and especially into contact ... his bull rush is forceful, but often sacrifices his balance and struggles to escape contact ... has a bad habit of dropping his head into contact, losing sight of the football ... doesn’t have the flexibility in his hips or lower half to consistently work edges as he searches for a rush path ... doesn’t have the lower-body agility to recover after a false step or add value on stunts ... suffered a torn ACL injury (November 2019) and underwent season-ending surgery ... marginal statistical resume.

SUMMARY: A two-year starter at Mississippi State, Young lined up as the nose guard in former defensive coordinator (now head coach) Zach Arnett’s 3-3-5 base scheme. After an ACL injury disrupted his development as an underclassman, he showed promising growth the past two years as a starter, averaging 41.4 defensive snaps per game. With his long arms and body strength, Young forces the issue at the snap while also displaying the instincts to feel blocking pressures and find the football. However, his tall pads are a detriment and will make it easier for NFL blockers to control him. Young is a heavy, upright mover, which will limit his ability to make plays on the football, but his forceful punch and balance through contact are NFL traits. He has two-gapping traits to provide immediate depth as a nose or play head up over the tackle.

Plenty of RBs to choose in the later rounds.

It sucks Penny was let go for such a small amount... I'm going to be annoyed if he finds the holy grail this offseason because he'll absolutely tear it up in Philly... but we had to find another QUALITY/high end RB. Dallas and/or Homer (who is gone granted) are NOT the answer. Not even close. They are "Oh shit mode" runningbacks. Homer was a quality blocker, but IMO he generally sucked at everything else and also got injured from time to time.

Zach offers the great blocking that Homer had, but is a far better runner/receiver. It's not even close. Walker is the starter, but Zach will reduce the load on Walker while offering an even bigger threat on 3rd down. And the great thing? When Walker goes on the bench and Zach comes in? It's not a guaranteed pass (like it was with Homer). It can still be a run.

Seattle now has the capability to cause panic/fits on the defense with those two switching in and out. Walker in will LIKELY be a run, but Zach comes in and you don't know what the fuck it is... and then all the TE sets that Waldron uses coupled with Jaxon moving all over the place slot wise? Jesus Christ...

DCs going against Seattle are going to have their hands FULL.

Zach isn't a bad pick on it's own but drafting backups in the 2nd is a strange move.
