It is funny to me that they rank a young, low level OF who has been hurt most of the year ahead of a guy raking at AA/AAA all year. Baseball...

I think it's more about potential assuming you're talking about Julio being ranked higher than Jake Fraley. Also it would be remiss for many scouts to jump to conclusions over Fraley's explosion. I've been quite curious as to why Fraley hasn't shot up higher. I have to assume there is something on tape that scouts don't like because so far this year he has been dominant in all five phases of the game.

It’s projection and ego though, which ego is 90% of these prospects sites. Ego wise it is better hitting on a guy who is low level A or even AA over a guy who has made it to AAA. You’d rather be wrong with a younger prospect than one who is in AAA which generally top prospects for teams don’t really go to.

I just said something similar but I think you articulated it better than I did. Another part of it is that there are plenty of guys who somehow kill the minor leagues yet struggle once they get to the bigs.

My feeling on that goes back to how teams value AA much more than AAA. Generally guys who are in AAA but get the call up are role players or guys like Vogelbach where they pigeon hole them into a role like only can face RHP or something similar. At least to me it seems if someone gets a call up from AA they have leash to struggle compared to AAA guys who if they don’t succeed instantly then they are role players. But also it’s rare a guy makes the jump from AA, they usually go from being in AA to making the roster out of spring training the next year.

Welp you guys wanted trades we got trades down I believe we talked away with a young infielder and young pitcher which is great it would have been great if we could have traded away Dee Gordon but I dont think there are any takers.

It wasnt anything blockbuster and realistically we dont have any players that would warrant a huge return of prospects I am actually surprised we got back what we did I thought Hunterstrickland and Reonis would be a bag of baseball and a stick of gum.
