Any updates on Luciano? It has been almost 2 months now since he last showed up in a box score (6/3 was his last appearance)

I saw that Luciano was on the IL earlier this week. Now I know why:

Luciano out with low back strain (June 15)
Marco Luciano, the Giants' top prospect, was placed on the injured list with a low back strain and is rehabbing in Arizona, the club announced Wednesday. The 20-year-old shortstop will not participate in any baseball activities for at least the next two weeks. Luciano had enjoyed a hot start at High-A Eugene this year, batting .288 with an .867 OPS and eight home runs over 40 games. -- Maria Guardado
Just a bump to add context to my earlier question…

Did a quick search and couldn't find anything past June 17th. The articles from that week say that he is in Scottsdale and won't resume baseball activities for 2 weeks and the hope was he would return by middle July. That has obviously been pushed back but who knows what the ETA is now.

Its scary that our top prospect is dealing with back issues already.

Remember Joe Panik. He was never the same.

Giants make another trade . . . on the minor league level.

FZ getting creative, now his middle infielders are going to dabble in catching (but not hitting, apparently).

"The Giants are known to prize defensive versatility, and Proctor’s ability to act as more than just a traditional backup catcher could allow him to carve out a path to a spot on a big league roster."

How about valuing defensive competence even more?

This makes absolutely no freaking sense to me. None. :noidea:
FZ needs help. He has a problem.

Seriously, I need to give him time to let his system work, but so far, I dislike his system sooooo much.

I realize 107, but that only goes so far.

I remind this comment.

The Giants have DFA’d Kervin Castro to make room on the 40 for Proctor.

What the #3ll is this man's problem? He makes the most strange, random moves to add guys to the 40 man roster when its not even needed. Joe Palumbo? Ford Proctor? Adding guys to the 60 day IL and returning them to their original orgs once they are ready to be activated (Dedniel Nunez? Julian Fernandez?).

I'm really wondering if he has an addiction to roster moves. This guy claims to care about the players but he puts so many through such unnecessary churning. He cannot see players as humans. Its just a numbers game to him.

In very minor news, Austin Reich has voluntarily retired. He started 2022 on the restricted list with Eugene and was sent on a rehab assignment with the ACL Black team in early July. He made one appearance (not a good one) and retired at the end of the month. Not sure why he was on the restricted list or why he retired but he looked good last year. Oh well.

Minor league rosters already list most of the recent acquisitions. Here are their assignments:
Sacramento - Michael Stryffeler (promotion from AA with his previous org)
Richmond - Tristan Peters (promotion from high A with his previous org)
Eugene - Carson Seymour, Nick Zwack (both professional debuts), Andy Thomas

Not listed on any rosters yet - Thomas Szapucki, Ford Proctor

Both Seymour and Zwack played at 3 different levels for the Mets between last year and this.
