Wilson got promoted to AA about the same time that Luciano got moved up to high A last year so I think the Giants may want to continue to develop other guys as well. But, yes, Luciano is the star of the prospect class.
I did not intend to say there are no other prospects past Luciano. Just that Luciano will be treated as if there were no other prospects. He is the 2 ton gorilla. Others will advanced based on their levels of development, but their needs will be completely disregarded if it conflicts with the development of Luciano.

Baseball ain’t fair.

The SFGiants have signed RHP Scott Alexander to a MiLB contract, per the team's transaction page.

Checked the mlb app and they have him with us still...

That's why I asked.

And "big boys" is no worse a name than "river cats"...
But “Big Boys” would be more appropriate for a team from SF than Sacto, so…

The MLB app is off. He's been in Sacramento for a couple of weeks (and has looked awful since being sent back down). And I thought the MLB websites were bad.

well dang.
He's gone 13 for 64, with just 1 extra base hit, 11 walks (and 2 HBPs) and 16 strikeouts. That makes a .203/.338/.250 slash line (.588 OPS) since getting sent back down from SF.
He is still young (doesn't even turn 23 until early September) so I am hoping he can make some adjustments in AAA and start mashing again.

Apparently, Carlos Martinez was released by the Giants on April 28th
He was listed as having an opt out. If the Giants DIDNT release him, and he just opted out, w phat an ass. He comes to the Giants and bails before he is healthy enough to throw a single pitch?

I wonder why the Giants let him go. Did they feel he should be healthy enough to pitch but he wasn't willing to make the progressions to get into games? Did he expect an automatic call up to the big leagues and they wouldn't guarantee it? Seems weird that the Giants released him 3 days before the opt out period.

In related news (it has to do with AAA), the RiverCats are currently carrying 12 infielders on the roster (including rehab assignments for Longoria and LaStella). I think FZ's love of utility players is a bit out of control.

I saw a video of FZ at his home from a week or so ago. He had all the infielders currently under contract with the Giants in a vault and FZ was diving into them and doing the backstroke through them. At one point, he started throwing them in the air and having them all fall onto his head.

It was kinda odd.

Per Baggs:

The Giants and Mariners made *yet another* trade today. Giants get IF Donovan Walton for RHP Prelander Berroa. IF Mike Ford has been designated for assignment to make room for Walton on the 40-man roster.

Isn’t Berroa a decent-ish prospect? At least we fill an organizational need of middling infielder, though.
