Whoops, forgot he was a 3rd round pick, but the point still stands. FZ's regime shows almost zero interest in moving players that came from Sabean's watch. Exhibits A through E sit on the Richmond roster as late 20 something castoffs from other orgs.
Absolutely. I wasn’t trying to counter your point, just adding a factoid.

Giants released Heath Quinn earlier this month. If any of you all remember, back in 2018 he was looking like a potential big league outfielder after a nice offensive season in San Jose. Then the downhill fall begin in early 2019 where he struggled with Richmond. He was demoted back to San Jose, got injured and returned toward the end of the season to be productive again in high A ball. Then the 2020 minor league got wiped out. Unfortunately, he got lost in the shuffle, going back to high A for the start of 2021. He hit well as a backup and got a chance again with Richmond, where he hit .213/.224/.362 in 47 ABs there as a 26 year old, putting the nail in the coffin of his Giants' career.

IIRC, he he got off to a hot 1/2 season, but really never showed anything ever again.

He signed for 600k when he was drafted. That is still decent scratch for a 4 year career out of college. I hope he lived like a just-out-of-college kid and he still has at least a quarter mil left in his bank account. If he did, he has a nice little package to start the next part of his life.

I do think he showed enough to get a longer look at Richmond. However, the organization is so loaded with decent outfield prospects that I'm okay with moving on at this point. Still, its a shame he wasn't given a little more of a chance. I understand Jebavy was the more highly regarded prospect but he was given multiple years at Richmond and didn't do a thing with the bat there.

Richmond: where minor league bats go to die.

GREAT point. Might be the post of the season right there. I hope these bonus kids get sound financial advice. Of course, he loses half that 600k to the government, but still.

Looks like Luciano could be in line for a mid season promo to AA. That would be amazing.

Bednar looks like he was placed too low. His ERA is nice but nothing OMG, but his other stats are dominating

I think Kyle Harrison needs to get promoted to AA. His K rate is crazy! How many minor league pitchers are averaging close to 20 Ks per 9 inning game? (of course, who really pitches a full game anyway, but that is still the standard of measurement).

Luciano look overwhelmed when he got moved to high A toward the end of last season. That is not the case now. Problem is that Fitzgerald, Wilson and Matheny are playing middle infield in AA. Maybe one of them gets a bump to AAA (probably not Fitzgerald, he is really struggling. Maybe its just he and Luciano flip assignments in June or early July if Fitzgerald continues to struggle in Richmond).

I have to mention the fact that 5 batters in Richmond can be included in this list, at any point in the season, is very good. Usually, that team may have one or two hitters worth mentioning, if they have any at all.

No one will block Luciano. Maybe not even Craw.

Everyone else in the org is filler when it comes to his development.

Harrison and Bednar look like blue chippers. And they may arrive at approx the same time.

That could be fun.

Wilson got promoted to AA about the same time that Luciano got moved up to high A last year so I think the Giants may want to continue to develop other guys as well. But, yes, Luciano is the star of the prospect class.
