Seems weird that Harrison would slip. Of course, I don't know how the other 21 above him (other than Luciano) have performed.

I get that Luciano would drop. Lower back issues is not a good thing.
This is the first time MLB has included the most recent draftees in their rankings, so him dropping only 1 slot is actually a feather in his cap.

Landen Roupp and Keaton Winn have been promoted from Eugene to AA Richmond. Roupp, a 12th-rounder from UNC-Wilmington, dominated at both Single-A levels. He could continue to move quickly as a starter or bulk reliever.

Keith Law just published his updated top 60 prospects list:

13. Luciano
16. Harrison

Average team should have two in the top 60. We have two in the top quarter...not bad.

But Luciano is trending in the wrong direction.

Schmidt went 4-5 and is now hitting .406 for AA Richmond (only 32 AB)

Villar hit his 25th and 26th homer of the season for AAA Sacramento tonight. He's hitting .282

Tristan Beck pitched 5 innings, 4 hits, 0 ER, 2 W, 7 K. His ERA is 5.40 but he has pitched pretty well of late. He had some rough outings earlier in the year.

What pitcher (besides Marciano) hasn't had a lot of rough outings in AAA?

Maybe next year begins the youth movement?

fans may not like the team not spending in FA, but maybe that isn’t the route to take?

Schmidt may be ready by mid season.
Harrison is probably ready now.
Ramos needs to be given an extended look.
Villar has nothing left to prove in extended AAA time.

who knows…. Tired rantings on a Friday night.

I just saw that Solomon Bates was released from Richmond two weeks ago. I am surprised because his numbers weren't good in Eugene last year but they kept him around and promoted to Richmond this year. His numbers looked better than last years and so they let him go. I wonder what they expected of him.

Aw man, one of my favorite Giants' minor leaguer, JJ Santa Cruz, got released. He has good career numbers, I hope he latches on somewhere else. Then again, he's not very young. He may just move on to something else.

Another release that seems odd to me is Kwan Adkins. He hit well in the ACL last year, yet got assigned back to there again this year. He hit well (but not as well as last year) in 2022 but got the boot instead of a promotion.

He was a 30th round pick. And he was ALWAYS well older than the average for the league he was in. He did well in AZ last year, but he was 4 years older than his competition, and when he went to Eugene he struggled. He was depth, and was actually given a shot that he wasn’t able to capitalize on.

He only got in 18 games in Eugene and he hardly struggled. His numbers weren't great there but still decent (.244/.354/.390).
I'm a believer in rewarding good numbers. There was surely room for him to move up.
For example, why is Jacob Heyward still in the org? He is, for the 3rd season in a row, struggling tremendously with the bat in AA. Let him go, move up Vaun Brown to replace him, then move up Grant McCray to Eugene. That opens a roster spot in San Jose for Kwan. If he struggles there the rest of the way, then maybe cut him in the offseason. Just seems really weird to let go one of the top performing guys on that team. Second best OPS with ACL Orange, by far (130 points to the next guy), for anyone not a 2022 draftee (4 players) or on rehab (2 players). Only one other had a better OPS and he got promoted to San Jose.

They see these guys every day. And the likely determined he had zero chance to make it to Bigs, so he isdepth only. Maybe they needed his spot for one of kids coming in from the draft. Maybe he wanted a fresh start (in the game or out) and since they viewed him as depth, they obliged by letting him go. If you are depth, they probably classify you as simply an employee instead of an asset.

All complete guesses, of course. But a 25 year old putting up good, not great numbers in camp doesnt move the needle for me.
