Does Wash deserve any credit for the turn around?

The bottom line however is important in wins and losses and overall success. Would you rather win 90 games making calls you perceive to be wrong or lose 90 games you perceive to be right? The fact that this team has been successful since 2009 is telling and I think that says a lot in my opinion. And I for one don't agree with all the decisions and calls Wash makes but I think you'll have those for every fan base when there are 162 games.
That's a false dichotomy. This isn't about perception. It's about putting everyone in the best position to succeed.

Not at all. Putting someone in the best position to succeed is subjective from person to person.

I sometimes disagree with some moves that he makes, but I know that he knows a lot more about the game, his players, and opposing players than I do. I know that a lot of people post statements of the form "I knew that Wash should have ....". I don't recall seeing many of the form "Wash really made the right move when he ...., since I would have done something totally different". So easy to second guess. So much more difficult to make ex ante the decisions to turn out to have been "right" ex post.

... Oh ... I definitely disagree with that ... especially as relates to lineup/batting order and pitching change decisions. Remember too we were the ones that called for the change in LF/RF a whole 24 hours before Wash made the change.

Sure ... there are often ex post objections ... but much more common are ex ante.

The false dichotomy were the two extreme options you gave me.

I'll agree it was extreme but like I said I am a believer in the bottom line and maybe that is the business side of me talking but it's something I and just about every other sports franchise will look at.

You can have both. Good decision making leads to better results. Wash can be better, and will need to be.

That I agree with. You can always get better.

"They opened up to feelings that are clear now," Washington said. "Change isn't because of the meeting; it's because of the players. The mindset changed; the attitude changed; the commitment to each other changed. I just put the forum out there and laid out the work, and they did the rest." Grinning, Washington added, "That's my specialty. That and defense."

"Ron, besides being an incredible people person, has a deep understanding of every aspect of the game," Scioscia said. "He's got an invaluable foundation of fundamental baseball with a passion to apply it. "Wash's baseball IQ is as good as anybody I've been around."

Manager of the Year?
"I would love to see it happen," second baseman Ian Kinsler said.
"But I don't think Wash really cares. He believes awards are accomplished by a group of people, not individuals. I think it rubs off on his players."

Could he be better?
Sure….couldn’t everyone?
