This clip never gets old, he's so ridiculous....he gets ejected

edit, oh they didn't show the ejection? I'll try and find it. Classic
WMW is one of the lightest people around here, it was a heated baseball discussion, it happens, no harm no foul
I didn't see the Brad guy being heated about anything. I thought it was an interesting discussion regardless of who I agree with, or what stats or scouts I agree with
That's all I'm sayin

Back to the thread topic.
Not bad last night.
Ron's strengths are emphasize pitching, defense, situational hitting, and moving runners. No substitute for speed. This will be interesting to watch unfold with Cruz on the shelve.
Should Texas win the division, I'd expect Washington to land the Manager of the Year.
Go Rangers
Interesting. Hadn't thought of that, but he would definitely be a strong candidate. Only better possibility I can think of is maybe Francona if the Indians make the playoffs. Maybe Farrell in Boston or Buck in Baltimore?
Before I make a prediction I think I'll wait until somebody actually wins something.
What will you for someone to win before you predict? A division, a pennant, a WS, or the award itself? Besides, I don't think that anyone really "predicted" anything. Rather, just kind of tossing around some "what ifs".
Guess I could wait until the award itself is ... awarded. But that would sorta be defeating the whole train of thought here.
In all honesty ... I really don't care about individual awards unless they count in the Win column or HFA in the playoffs.
MoY always turns out to be some guy from Minnesota or Tampa who no one thought was going to win it since their team didn't make the playoffs. Somehow getting any cred for leading a team without Napoli or Hamilton given how crappy both were last year (and this year) ought to not count for much. TEX lost Scott Feldman too this year ... not to mention Julio Borbon.
What about the excellent coaching that got David Murphy to the ASG as both the starter in LF and as a relief pitcher?
It just doesn't matter.
Definitely agree that individual awards in team sports absolutely pale in comparison to team accomplishments.
Hamilton wasn't crappy all of last year, though, was he? I think he was about the best player in the majors for about three months, right? Feldman hadn't done much for TX in several years, though he was surprisingly good for the Cubs to begin this year. Wonder how that holds up down the stretch in the AL? Borbon still hasn't done a whole lot, has he?
Anyway, what motivated me to make this thread was how much a number of fans on this board were critical of Wash during the slump over the first ten games after the break. Kind of feel like part of that stems from many fans having gotten a bit "spoiled" by as much success as we've had with Wash. If he takes the heat when we lose, then he ought to get the credit when we win, right? Obviously, however, the manager has only a limited role in the overall success of the team.
I bash Wash in the good times and the bad when he makes idiotic decisions, which is still too often for my liking
Any fan certainly has the right to do that. Did you read that article that I posted about Wash in this thread yesterday? I thought it did a good job of emphasizing that Wash's strength isn't really how he manages the game so much as it is how he manages the players.
Fair enough, and I totally see that, but managing the players might win you games, but we have no way of quantifying that, we can SEE the mistakes he makes in game and thats what most people will tend to focus on
Gives more credence to the idea of installing game controllers at every seat at RBIA that fans can push based on multiple choices on the Jumbotron to choose what TEX managerial actions ought to be on the next play.
You should have to pass a baseball IQ test before you are allowed to vote. If you think the wave is acceptable fan behavior, then you don't get a vote.Gives more credence to the idea of installing game controllers at every seat at RBIA that fans can push based on multiple choices on the Jumbotron to choose what TEX managerial actions ought to be on the next play.

I think if you follow this group, most of our criticisms happen before the melt down. I will call a move a bad move, even if it works out in the end. It's about the decision making process to me, more than the results. You can make the right call it have it fail.I sometimes disagree with some moves that he makes, but I know that he knows a lot more about the game, his players, and opposing players than I do. I know that a lot of people post statements of the form "I knew that Wash should have ....". I don't recall seeing many of the form "Wash really made the right move when he ...., since I would have done something totally different". So easy to second guess. So much more difficult to make ex ante the decisions to turn out to have been "right" ex post.
