You might want to try using an app like Meetup, Opensport, etc. I've never used any, so I don't know how effective they are, but worth a shot maybe.

I just created an OpenSports account. It looks like I have to call them to figure out how to finish setting up my group, and if I can use it how I want to use it (to find other people).

Play your court advseems to be a rage now!!its all over FB and YouTube. I have used LeagueTennis an online meetup back in the day when I lived near Dallas TX. It was pretty good. I won the 4.0 league once unbeaten. I played in the 4.5 version as well.

I found a MeetUp group that was scheduled to play on Sunday.

It was 3 cities away, but seemed to be the closest group that was on Meet Up.

I went to the park, and no one was there. Apparently it had been cancelled that morning due to threats of rain. I had checked the group the night before, but didn't see anything about it being cancelled.

They had cancelled it early in the morning.

I guess I will try again this Sunday. I hope to find something in my city, or at worst, 1 city away, at some point. I asked if anyone in the group carpooled, but no response. Maybe I'll find out in person.

I have also in the past driven or carpooled with fellow players for doubles and singles matches when I joined local player groups.

Try play your court. They claim to hook you up with players from your own town wherever you live.

Yeah, I just don't want to pay for a subscription right now. Maybe after if/after I start to play more regularly.

we lost in the district championships for my mixed team this year and my men's team that I am captaining got eliminated last week. Not sure what my next league is, but I am kind of happy to be taking a little break to just play for fun with no leagues going on.

Ball machines are ok but never forget the roots of learning. The backboard. It’s loyal, relentless and free.

I was really planning on getting one for myself too.
Found some reviews here: Best Tennis Ball Machine

Is it worth it though?
P.S: I'm a new player.

They are expensive. Maybe wait until you get the tennis bug and want to play every day. You will enjoy tennis more if you find some folks to hit with. JMHO.

I only use them for lessons and I like them. Otherwise, the pressurized ones lose pressure over time.

if I am just hitting with someone, I will break out a new can or some that have been used once or twice from my bag.

the pressureless ones are in a hopper that I use when I feed to someone.

they sound funny and they don't present as clean a hit.

a pressured ball just feels better

Unless you are using a ball machine or feeding balls to a student pressureless balls make no sense

Well they are good for serving as well, but I agree with the rest.
