Those new Wilson rackets are supposed to be pretty good. Have not used them in ages. Never heard of Angel.

What are you looking for in a racquet?

well I hit with a Wilson six.one 95S (16x18) right now and it has a swing weight of 12.3 oz, which is a little ridiculous. So I am looking for something with a similar string pattern but at least an ounce lighter. I feel like I have been slow getting around on the ball lately.

but I also want something I can drive through the ball, so the swing weight needs to be in the 300 or higher range.

I am mostly a baseline player. I can generate my own power and spin, so I want a racquet that can emphasize that.

the Wilson and the Babolat are my front runners based on what I have read and the specs.

I was going to look at the new Wilson Clash racquets, but I think I will just go with these for now...I really don't think I am going to go with the Pro Kinnex or Prince, but I could be surprised.

What is swing weight?

So you want something in the 11 oz range?

essentially, yes. 11-11.5 oz

Swingweight: Measure of how heavy a racquet feels when swung, i.e. maneuverability. Also known as Moment of Inertia or Second Moment, swingweight is dependent on several factors, including racquet weight, length, balance, head size. A heavy swingweight racquet is more powerful than a light swingweight racquet (ATBE), but will be less maneuverable. Also, a heavy swingweight racquet can be relatively light in overall weight by placing the majority of weight in the head.

Love my ProKennex. One is a 93 and one is a 98 sqin. Very arm friendly.

partly why I am demoing one. I don't mind trying a new brand.

everyone I play with uses an Babolat Pure Drive, so I am avoiding buying that one because of that.

What do those numbers mean?
square inches of the head of the racquet (sqin)

I don't know where you find a 93 sq in head these days. That must be an old racquet

You can still find them. Either brand new or used.

I play tennis just like I golf. Poorly.

But I play both fairly frequently.

And I love watching tennis but you couldn't pay me to watch golf on TV.

What are some of the key specs that influenced your decision?

well all the racquets I tried were in the 300-305 weight range, mostly head-light, meaning more of the weight is in the handle.

I like a more open string pattern, so the 16x19 works for me as it helps me generate more spin on the ball.

but really I just liked the feel of it in the end. I felt the ball was coming off the racquet better than the others and I liked how well I could control the ball.

my other top choice was the Wilson Ultra Countervail, which was nice, but in the end I went with the Babolat. Either would have been fine, I think.

Is that the unstrung weight? This says the unstrung weight is 306 g.

Why are the weights in grams instead of ounces?

I think I asked this a few years ago. But I'll ask again anyways.

What's the best way to find someone random to play with, for a one-off match? If it's fun, then maybe I'd do it more frequently, but if not, then no big deal.

Is there a site or app that's good for that?

Assuming I could find someone at a similar skill level (someone who doesn't play very much).

I think the USTA Tennislink site gives some resources, but if you check out your local parks, they might have some sort of social tennis thing going on that you could get on.
