THE STATS GUY ‏@TH2NSTATSGUY
CBJ and Coyotes account for a third of all NHL losses - seems like spreading the wealth may solve a lot of problems......just a thought

Ive a solution for this.........

They are still fucking that dog, eh?

The Columbus Blue Jackets are NOT losing money. They just have a corporation that built them an arena, so they are/were not making money on the naming rights until now. Because the city bought the arena from said corporation, and now the corporation pays 10 mil per year in naming rights (the exact amount they were "losing"). Starting this coming year.

I think maybe I will start saying that I am losing 7 million a year because I am not making the salary that an NHL starting goalie makes.

Columbus does have a different big problem on their hands though. There is talk of the NHL bailing on the ASG, and the city has already horked over big money prepping for it (New hotel being built at the arena, parking facilities, traffic improvements, downtown building facelifts, various places for activities, etc). Plus they reported a 15% increase in season ticket sales and one would expect that is strictly for ASG tickets. Because no one wants to see the on-ice product.

When the season does not start on time, I bet a LOT of season tickets get refunded.

So, crying wolf might actually be at work here. They bitched that they were "losing" their shirts. And this year... They will.

apparently the Sharks "lost" $15m, despite having sold out every game and making the playoffs.
math is funny sometimes.

Here's the thing with finance, it's not how much you make it's how much you spend that matters.

did you know that in the 2 times that Daryl Sutter has been to the final we have had Labour Strife and 1 lockout and another potential lockout.

I think he should be banished.

In that case i am hoping for a one year deal and another lockout threat

I may be wrong but I think I heard that the Sharks franchise lost money but the corporation that runs the Sharks didn't. Stupid technicality to try and gain leverage in negotiations.

This type of talk doesn't give me a warm fuzzy...

“It’s no secret that there are things that are very important to players and they become more important in certain kinds of systems,” Fehr said Tuesday after concluding two days of meetings here with 38 NHLPA members. “What would it take to get players to move off those kind of things would be major concessions on the other side. A concession is when you give up something you have, not when you modify a position about something you don’t have. If somebody said I asked for everything you have and now I’ll only take half of everything you have, that’s not a concession. It’s when I say I’ll give you something.”

im bracing for a full year. can you imagine 2 full year lockouts in the last 2 CBAs. and one 1/2 year by the same Commissioner. And he makes $8M a year. and people wonder why he gets booed.
