Dipoto's whole reason for being hired was to make things happen FAST!! He can play his trading crap to get a winning team a lot faster than if he were to spend time/energy growing a farm system. I do not agree with this approach because the odds of putting together a sustainable winning team are slim to none. Look at all the positive strokes he's getting from the fan base and the owners. It takes real work and time to build a farm system. Sure, the M's are doing much better but are barely hanging in there-we've got a mediocre pitching staff and a very inconsistent offense at best. Certainly not a team you're gonna bet your money on. (I was gonna say "bet the farm on", but figured I get a ration of shit for that)
