If you don't know why they changed so many rules regarding hitting QBs, just say so. I can tell you. Just ask.

If you think a guy 182 pounds can take an NFL pounding for 16 games I seriously doubt I'll be listening, you come off lost.

Your make-believe world is so cute. It speaks volumes that you've moved from Qbs, to WRs, to now entire teams. Again, proving my point.

Dude, so todays athletes aren't bigger, faster, stronger, hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you even have a point slugger?

So he could play today?

QB is the only position that does not render most old timers completely outclassed imo. There are probably a very small handful from every era who could play today.

If we adjust for nutrition/diet & weight training the old-timers would be able to take advantage of had they been born in the 1990s, a lot of them could play today based upon talent alone. But you don't seem inclined to make that concession.

So, you decided to declare victory while refusing to address context or merits raised by others' responses? Yeah for you?

Sammy Baugh never faced African American athletes, never had t deal with that size with speed combo. No Deacon Jones to deal with, No Emlen Tunnell to deal with, no Night Train Lane.

I’m pretty sure it’s always been old timers with today’s advantages, I think you are the only one lost on that

Rough game, can't be putting your QB at risk of getting hurt. So ya try to protect them the best ya can.

They didn't used to protect them like they do today, which is one of the points we've been making. It's easier on them physically today than it was back then, not harder.

Gotta be todays advantages, at least regarding knowing the playbook and understanding how the game is played today.

As for diet & training advantages, Baugh & Graham would do just fine without the extra 15-20 lbs that might have gained them. Most others probably not.

In three seasons an NFL QB will play in 48 games if they nevrr make the playoffs. Back in the days of Sammy Baugh/Otto.....36. Now add the fact todays QB face far bigger, stronger more vicious tacklers than what the old timers faced. Also add the fact it is no fun being slammed on artificial turf, they had a soft grass field field back then.

Hell no these guys today don't have it easier, where is your common sense son?

So the 1930's Baugh and the 1940;s Graham couldn't play as they were back then today?

They played without facemasks.
There were no special rules protecting QBs.

Every factor you have raised simply does not apply to QBs. They apply to every other position on the field, but not QB.

They could physically, but regarding the playbook they'd have to get up to speed or we'd just have to assume they are up to speed for the hypothetical.

But all of your "they don't weigh enough/aren't tough or fast enough" arguments .. that stuff is just rubbish.

On November 15, 1953, in a game against the San Francisco 49ers, an opponent's elbow struck Cleveland Browns quarterback Otto Graham in the face. Graham was a veteran player who knew through years in the league that this hit would take him out of the game. Graham was not wearing a protective mask and the blow resulted in a deep gash running down his cheek bone. It was not the first hit that took Graham out of a game, but he decided that it would be the last. Graham went to the locker room where a trainer stitched the cut, and he later returned to the game wearing a protective mask. It was the first time an NFL player wore a mask during a regular season game.

Here’s a nice little tid bit you can use as ammo
Don’t see this happening nowadays

I'd heard that he was the first to wear one, but didn't know the details. Thanks.

Sammy Baugh played in 167games in a 16 year career, yep, averaged 10ish a season. So yu are really going to compare that to 16 game season vs far better athletes.

Come on man, hahaha!

Rubbish is thinking any QB 182 pounds could survive a 16 game NFL season, that is totally.....DUH!!!!!!!!
