Before deciding to blow up the team it certainly would make sense to make a change of the manager and see how things go for the next month.

100% agree. Or atleast a new coaching staff.

Just my view....I'd fire the GM before any major changes are begun. OWNERSHIP needs to make a statement...otherwise it will be some cosmetic "makeover" that solves nothing.

As for blowing up the team...it's a pipe dream, unless ownership is willing to eat millions of dollars in contact money. And to get rid of bloated contracts you need to be willing to accept less in return.

His best move as GM has been bringing his kid back. Seriously, that's his best move. Pelfrey was the dumbest thing I can remember in a long time. And he was all over that quick.

Lloyd McClendon will not succeed with this team. But he'll manage it if Ausmus doesn't. He's not exactly blowing my mind as hitting coach.

I agree....the only move that makes sense, and is easily doable, is firing Avila Sr. If they want to can Ausmus along with him, that is fine. But if they fire Avila...they better do it soon to give the new GM time to set up for this summer's draft.
I think they will eat Sanchez' contract, but no one is going to move on Verlander, Cabrera, and probably VMart...unless they eat MAJOR amounts of money. Kinsler stays (he makes just $10mil next year). JD won't bring as much as everyone expects because Detroit does not have the fallback of a after 1st round pick to hold over other teams heads. And Upton would be an idiot to leave...despite what Vice predicted. LOL

Christin Stewart (their second pick in 2015) is getting on base and smashing homers really well in Erie. But he doesn't make consistent contact. They pretty much have to trade JD. No matter the market. No way they can afford to keep him.
