Three series left.....Tigers need to WIN them all. A 7-3 record over their final 10 should give them a real good shot at WC. HOWEVER....taking 3 out of 4 from Cleveland is not a given, so a sweep of KC and a split with the Tribe would work too. :)
Looks like Eastern pulled one out of their asses

How can u compare to the Cy Young year? He is not the same pitcher now. Wow he is in the Cy Young talk and not bad for a guy at lot of people had said he was trash a few years ago.....

Not sure what you are reading into my post. No, he's not the same pitcher as he was in 2011. And I'm giving JV praise for having a great season despite the boatload of HR allowed. All I'm saying is if he'd given up 5 or 6 fewer bombs, his ERA is likely under 3.00 and he becomes the front-runner for this year's Cy Young Award. As it is, he's probably #4 or #5 in the discussion.

A little better run support would have helped, too. The Tigers have scored 1 run or less in 8 of JV's starts. He really should have about 18 wins by now.

One of the worst losses of the year. Team effort due to runners LOB and K-Rod

PROBABLE STARTING PITCHERS

Detroit Tigers
LHP Matt Boyd (6-4, 4.16 ERA)

Kansas City Royals

RHP Edinson Volquez (10-11, 5.25 ERA)

Tigers lefty Matt Boyd is coming off what may be the best start of his young career. He gave up just one run and three hits in eight innings to beat the Twins.

--Edinson Volquez is 2-0 with a 4.05 ERA against the Tigers in three starts this season.

--Today wraps up the season series with the Royals. The Tigers have a 7-11 record against them so far in 2016.

--After today's game, the Tigers wrap up the regular season with a series against Cleveland at Comerica followed by a road trip to Atlanta.

I'm so glad my wife talked name into spending the day at the park so I didn't have to witness that. I did catch Hosmer's bomb on the radio between stops, but at least I didn't have 3 hours of my life invested in what looked to be a certain win. I think I'll play golf today.

Regardless of what happens to the Tigers this year, next year is looking bright. We should have a great rotation and our relief pitching should be better. Let's see if we can get some of these youngsters some playoff experience.
