Agreed. Chris Davis-level money is better spent on pitching rather than the outfield, IMO. Or they could spend considerably less and get a "true" outfielder like Gerardo Parra.
I would rather see them sit out of any more free agent signings myself.... spend like crazy on all these young cuban prospects that are now eligible. Spending 10 mil on prospect signings could save the need to have to chase 150 mil contract players down the road...

Weird free agent market this year... We are like a month away from pitchers and catchers reporting and like half the free agents haven't signed.

Really surprised guys like Wei-Yin Chen and Yovani Gallardo aren't signed yet. Their agents must be asking for a crapload.

Boras is the agent for Chen... so that should say enough.

Its going to be interesting to see what happens. Boras is holding out for mega contracts for a guy like chris davis that is NOT a 150+mil player and no team seems to want to pay what he is asking. No team really seems to want to pay what any of the guys like Cespedes, Upton, Davis, Chen, or Desmond are asking. At some point prices need to start to drop or there are going to be a lot of guys not signed before spring training. There are just to many guys asking for large deals and not enough teams with that kind of money to drop.

Davis in the outfield isn't something I'm crazy about. If we didn't have Victor I might feel differently.

Honestly, Raburn would be a decent add if we flipped Maybin for pitching. He wouldn't be an infielder this time and he's be down 6-7-8 in the order Id think. But I'm not going to push his cause. Lol

I'm surprised Parra isn't already signed.

I wouldn't complain if Raburn was added. I doubt they are going to flip Maybin for pitching though... My guess is Gose would be the one to go because he would net something much better in return.

But to be clear.. I would only want to see Raburn against lefties.... in LF only.

Yeah, for all his faults, Raburn can hit lefties (career 117 OPS+ vs. LHPs, 83 OPS+ vs. RHPs). But I don't know if we can deal with the defensive liabilities.

I don't think he his defense is going to be to costly if he is only playing against lefties and in pitch hitting situations.

Funny because the Marlins were about ready to hire a hit man to take Boras out over his comments about Ozuna a few weeks ago.. now they are signing another one of his clients.

And we get Pelfry.

It's mindnumbing how bad of an idea that was to add him to our rotation. What an absolute waste.

I can think of better ways to spend an extra $8 million a season. Pelfrey better throw 180+ innings at least, for that price.

As solely an outfielder, he's not horrible. I mean, he's not ever going to be good, but he has a nice arm.

This is difficult, he's Raburn, compliments actually hurt me to give him.
