Hell with the way this offense is going now, give him a week off!
Three games has worked for McCann back in July, Upton in August and Kinsler(he might not have rested three straight idk). I wouldn't be surprised to see him sitting again tomorrow Atleast.

We're gonna need some runs. Buck Farmer is starting for some reason.

@Marlins2003 you better be excited.

Winning the division is a pipe dream now bro.
So it's WC or nothing.. So now we want Baltimore and Toronto to lose... It's football season now, I lost touch with baseball. I'm confused

Kinsler's head (concussion?) and VMart's knee. These are more medical rests that what Upton's time off was.

Zimmermann just threw a bullpen session and Pelfrey just plain sucks...so I guess Farmer is plan C.

Rich Dubee has done incredible work with his youngsters this year.

Too bad he couldn't do shit with some of the oldsters (Sanchez, Lowe, etc.).

I don't worship Jesus Christ....I sure ain't going to worship Miggy. He plays well, and gets well compensated for his efforts.

I don't think anyone has suggested "worshipping" Cabrera. Geez, can we just enjoy the fact that we get to watch one of the greatest right-handed batters in history play the game? Me stating this isn't worship...it's fact.

Well...there is one poster who ''suggests'' Miggy should be off limits to any criticism. :)

PROBABLE STARTING PITCHERS
Detroit Tigers
RHP Buck Farmer (0-0, 4.07 ERA)

Minnesota Twins
RHP Jose Berrios (2-7, 8.88 ERA)

GAME NOTES

--The Tigers trail the Orioles by just 1.5 games in the race for the second and final American League wild card spot. Detroit has 12 games remaining in the regular season.

--The Astros, Mariners and Yankees all remain within striking distance in the wild card race. All three teams currently trail the Tigers. The Royals, while technically still alive in the race, have fallen five games behind the Orioles.

--In the middle of the chase for a playoff spot, Buck Farmer will make his first start of the season for the Tigers tonight. He's appeared in 13 games for Detroit this season, all in relief. Farmer pitched 4.1 scoreless innings of relief against the Twins in his last appearance (Sept. 13).

--It's been a rough season for Twins rookie Jose Berrios. He's lost six straight decisions, including one Aug. 25 to the Tigers. He gave up five earned runs in five innings in that one.

--Detroit's starting lineup will be announced later today. Ian Kinsler and Victor Martinez were out of last night's lineup after getting hit by pitches in Cleveland on Sunday. Kinsler is doubtful for tonight's game.

With both Kinsler and VMart missing another start do you think there might be some dust-ups against the Indians next week?

They might give Rondon the ''green light'' to plunk someone with one of his 100 mph fastballs. But it could turn out to be more like Nuke LaLooch and the Durham bull's mascot in the Bull Durham movie.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Detroit Tigers' game against the Minnesota Twins Wednesday night was postponed because of heavy rain.

It will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on Thursday. Game 1 will start at 2:10 p.m. ET, and Game 2 will be 8:10 p.m.

Anibal Sanchez will start the first game for the Tigers on Thursday. Justin Verlander will start the second game.

The Tigers (80-70) will enter Thursday only one game behind the Baltimore Orioles for the second American League wild card spot.

Rain forced a delay in the bottom of the third inning Wednesday with the game scoreless. After about 90 minutes of waiting, officials announced that the game had been postponed. None of the records from three innings played on Wednesday will count and the game will start from scratch on Thursday.

Buck Farmer started Wednesday for the Tigers but will likely be unavailable to pitch Thursday.

*sigh* Another crappy, no-name Twins pitcher stymies the Tigers for 5 innings. Hope we can get to their bullpen.
