I will agree Porcello has been more consistent than Verlander. But the biggest difference between the two is still run support. Each has 31 starts. Boston has scored 199 runs in Rick's starts. Detroit has scored 119 runs in JV's starts. In eight of Verlander's starts, the Tigers scored 1 run or less. That has only happened to Porcello in three of his starts.
As far as getting W's, Rick has had help for sure.

But JVs issues come down to the fly balls. Too many of them and too many over the fence.

RickyPs walk rate is tremendous this year too.

Both have done much better than what I expected from them. Vintage JV and what we all had hoped to see from RP. (We got flashed, but this is an entire season and he's finishing better than he started.)

His home win streak was impressive. But he's really cranked it up a notch. Early on his run support got a lot of the credit, but lately, it's him. (That CG loss turned the narrative on its head.)

Boston has the 1-2 starters as far as innings go, at the moment. Price deserves a lot of
Credit for the recent success too. That month from hell with no off days definitely went differently than I thought it would.

Price and Porcello could become the first Sox pitchers since Wakefield (2005) to throw 220+ innings. Schilling's the only other guy that's done it since 2000. Even Pedro only topped that arbitrary mark once in Boston (233.2 in 1998, though he did throw 217 innings in only 29 starts in 2000).

If Price hadnt given up so many runs early in the year he'd be in CYA contention too. His innings have definitely helped by keeping the BP away.

Two guys over 220 has to be rare across the league, Id think.

Well, yes. The SECOND biggest difference between the two is HR allowed. JV has allowed 28 home runs, Porcello 22 (which ain't bad for pitching half his games in Fenway).

Those two bad early starts really threw JVs rate stats for a loop too.

Like Nava mentioned, Rick has avoided the real bad outing.

I'm cool with us having Fulmer moving forward, but I definitely root for Rick still. (Even if he screwed me in fantasy playoffs last night.)

I'd like it if Boyd walked Dozier every time he is up to bat.. No getting beat by home runs tonight

How much is he getting paid?

I don't worship Jesus Christ....I sure ain't going to worship Miggy. He plays well, and gets well compensated for his efforts.

Is Miggy back to ignoring the third base coach again? LOL. He has done that before.

After getting shelled last time out, Boyd said immediately after the game that he'd already watched the film and knew what he did wrong. His arm slot had dropped back to what it was at the early part of the season. And he'd have it corrected his next time out.

He wasn't kidding.

Rich Dubee has done incredible work with his youngsters this year.
