As far as getting W's, Rick has had help for sure.I will agree Porcello has been more consistent than Verlander. But the biggest difference between the two is still run support. Each has 31 starts. Boston has scored 199 runs in Rick's starts. Detroit has scored 119 runs in JV's starts. In eight of Verlander's starts, the Tigers scored 1 run or less. That has only happened to Porcello in three of his starts.
But JVs issues come down to the fly balls. Too many of them and too many over the fence.
RickyPs walk rate is tremendous this year too.
Both have done much better than what I expected from them. Vintage JV and what we all had hoped to see from RP. (We got flashed, but this is an entire season and he's finishing better than he started.)
