Ausmus, what a piece of shit.

I understand your being pissed off but on the other hand it is DD who gave him those two worthless SP and a shitty shitty bang bang BP.. Has Ausmus misused pitchers as a whole ? YES ! However, you got to throw quite a bit of blame, IMO, towards DD also.

just my :2cents:

There is one thing that is GUAR-AN-TEED coming.....

TRADES

MULTIPLE

FOR BETTER

or worse

hopefully better trades that enhance the future for playoff runs

all teams hit the skids

LOOK no further than those RedSox

with the right trades and for the right prospects, this team can still contend for quite a few years again

Maybe not.

They're only 2 out of the wild card.

Dumbo is still doing his rosy-eyed routine.

I'm pretty confident he's aware that he can't even get into the WC spot without another quality SP and at least (1) if not (2) quality RP. IMO only and if he doesn't realize that then I'm lost.

Oh yeah! (In my best Mr. Kool Aid voice.)

If we thought there were a lot of new faces at the start of the season, we really will by the start of next season. Hopefully just not a bunch of new FA scabs.

Smitty, it kind of upsets me that I/We can't give multiple ratings.

However, the above deserved it's own post.

Exactly. The Tigers were 5th in team ERA in early June, now they're 13th in the AL. That ain't all Ausmus. I said before the season, the bullpen looks about as crappy as last season's, and the starting pitching definitely got worse. That is just coming to fruition, and that's on DD.

there's 74 games remaining after the break.

the tigs would have to win at a .580 clip the rest of the way, more than likely, to get a WC slot.

The writer of the above is a total dumb-ass

Playoffs? Detroit Tigers need to start winning at .600 clip

Forget the Royals. How can the Tigers get one of the two AL wild-card berths?
They probably need a repeat of last season, when none of the four wild-card teams won 90 games: The Royals went 89-73 for a .549 winning percentage, and the Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants all went 88-74 (.543).
In the two seasons before that — the current format that added a second wild-card team in each league started in 2012 — all but one of the eight wild-card teams won at least 90 games. And six of those won between 92 and 94.

This season, the two teams that hold the AL wild-card sports at the break are the Minnesota Twins, who are playing at a .551 pace, and the Houston Astros (.538).
Over 162 games, that would work out to 87 to 89 wins, respectively, so that's a good thing.
Now, more math: What do the Tigers have to do to get to 89 wins? Just go 45-29 the rest of the way, which is a .608 clip and 16 games over .500.

I guess I am sitting on the fence still be seller or be a buyer.....I don't like the way they have been playing the last few weeks.... I am not convinced you can turn this team around the pitching is just too too bad from the starters to the horse shit relief. ....

No way they win at a .608 clip with a starting rotation of "David Price, then Roll the Dice." Verlander would have to pitch like the JV of 2011-12, and Anibal has to get waaayyyy more consistent.

What will DD do with the Price/Cespedes situation? I don't think they can keep both and to sign just one (Price) leaves a big hole in left field. Sell both and get SOME value out of these FA's.

I'd ask for Furbush back. But they wouldn't give any MLB guys, I wouldn't think.
Maybe Montero, but we don't need a catcher that can't catch.
They might try and pawn Ackley off.

Reasons for them having interest:
Legendary Lloyd knows Avila.
Avila is a patient hitter
Solid to good defensively.
Lefty with some power.
Not a hefty contract to absorb this year.
Mike Zuzino makes Avila look like Tony Gwynn.

Avila is patient hitter? I love his swing but he's not patient at the plate.

If the Tigers have any balls, they'll get Chapman.

His career OBP is .101 higher than his batting average. (.345 is damn good, especially for a catcher. Pudge only reached that mark once as a Tiger, with .334 for his career. Cuz he wasn't a patient hitter.)That takes patience.

Just the other day he worked a walk off Tijuan Walker. Nobody had done that in over a month.

Prolly the most patient hitter the Tigers have that actually plays a position.

and what about the rest of the train-wreck for the BP///
Chapman is worthy of consideration

until you realize that the #4 and #5 SP's can't get past the 2nd or 3rd inning. it becomes too taxing on the BP as a whole.. Wilson and Hardy are the most consistent and best of that entire BP, at the moment, when used properly, imo. August/September won't be kind to those two more than likely

also, gone are the days when Soria had runs of 17 straight appearences ( 3x in his career) of not allowing a run at all and the one time run of 24 straight appearences without allowing a run
