Kyle Ryan? What a piece of shit.
The Tigers give him a 3-run lead--then, he walks the leadoff man, loads the bases with nobody out, and proceeds o give up a grand slam on an 0-2 pitch.
The next batter homers. Seattle 5-3.
Did I mention Kyle Ryan is a complete piece of shit? The poor bastard is in over his head.

Speaks to the dearth of talent in the Tiger farm system. DD mortgaged the future for big names. As smitty alluded to, we lost a highly-rated prospect (Jonathon Crawford) in the Simon trade. And Robbie Ray (part of the Greene trade) is pitching quite well for AZ now. Only 2-4 record, but an ERA under 3.00.

A couple positives from yesterday's loss: Castellanos goes yard for the second straight game, and Bruce Rondon returns to triple digits with the fastball (threw pitches of 100 and 101).

Suarez has done well over the last month too.

That Simon trade was the worst imo.

Sanchez had better go verrrry deep tomorrow afternoon. Bullpen is going to spent for an important Twins series otherwise. (7 starts in a row of atleast 7 for Sanchez. Hoping he makes it 8.)

JD comes close again......
It's a MUST win tomorrow afternoon.
Then, at least, 3 of 4 from the Twins.

Robbie Ray now 3-4 with a 2.16 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 8 starts for the D-Backs. We'll see how he does 2nd/3rd time through the NL teams, but it's possible we gave up on him too soon.

He's going through a hot streak, anything's possible.

He could be shut down by Tommy John surgery by this time next year.

Anything's possible.

Yep. Could be just a first time through the league thing, which often changes after teams have a chance to watch video on him, learn his patterns, etc. Agree that it's too small of a sample to say DD blew it. Like I said, we'll see.

DD sure underestimated the true worth of the starting pitching the Tigers had over the last 4 years..... The Porcello trade made Sense....the Fisher trade was just stupid.... The money for max was crazy couldn't do anything about that..... What you trade for Simon and green and expect them to fill in was crazy crazy

At least DD hedged his bet on losing Max by making the deal for Price. Sadly, it seems like Price doesn't want to sign here long-term. But the overall result is we went from 5 pretty reliable starters in 2013 to just 2 reliable starters now. Hard to do that and remain a contending team.

I hope I am wrong but there looks like there is just too much to try to fix at trade deadline to turn the season around.....

On the bright side, there is a TON to sell!

(Throw Kinsler and/or Victor in with YC or Price and we could have like 60 mil to play with in the offseason.)

Not a chance for a wholesale sell off.

I'm expecting 3 of 4 against the the Twins, capping a nice streak going into the break.

Unless you expect the Tigers to be 5 games out of the wild card in the last week of July--there is no way they'll engage in a wholesale sell off.

The Tigers would be idiots to blow up the roster. Firing Ausmus would be the first move before a wholesales sell off.

I honestly don't see either happening as long as they're within a game or 2 of the wild card.

Make that 1.5 reliable starters. Anibal is still very up-and-down. 5 walks yesterday, and gave up another bomb...19 on the season now. At least he still pitched into the 7th and gave his team a chance.

In all seriousness I think the Tigers can do it this season, wild card maybe. I have been a Tigers fan since 1969 when I watched my first Tigers game on tv. I grew up 92 miles from Detroit so I lived in Tigers Country til I was 21. Watched the boys have losing seasons almost from the start, but since what, like 2008 or 09, ''correct me if i'm wrong on the years, I smoke a lot of weed and I used to drink a lot'' the Tigers have been winners. I can't give up on them yet

Gonna be tough road to a winning record with no Miggy till midAugust and bad starting pitching. Not to mention the bullpen.

I'm just glad Jack Morris isn't in the booth tonight. Couldn't take much more of that. Welcome back HotRod!

(Also happy to see Kinsler square one up. Good sign.)
