Porcello has been really good since taking that trip to the DL for "tricep soreness". I think it was more to get his head on straight, and in that sense it worked.

He is no 20 mil a year pitcher... but I hope he does well.. I always liked Ricky.

Me, too. Now in his 7th season, I think it's unlikely that he'll be a #1/#2 starter worthy of that contract extension. But he'll still be an effective pitcher.

Before the DL stint, he was at 5-11 with a 5.81 ERA. He's 3-3 since coming back, but the ERA has dropped to 5.04. He's having an odd year, statistically. Ground balls are down and fly balls are up, but his strikeout rate is a career-high 7.7/9.

Anyone catch last nights matchup between Smyly and Porcello? Both looked good.. Smyly went 6.1 and gave up 0 runs and k'ed 7... Porcello went 7 innings and gave up 2 earned and k'ed 8...
Ricky gave up a ton of hits, but it's nice to see him slowly bring his ERA down. And finish the season strong.

I'll always be a fan of his.

McCann is really crushing that rookie innings caught record.

A definite bright spot from this season.

And a three run triple.

Really thought Boyd could get out of it with that grounder to Nick. Coulda been two down with a man on.

Oh well, we need to lose, right?

We need to lose, but we had to go and score 6 unanswered runs.

He is a good one. I hope alex is worth something.
Alex is a free agent... he isn't worth anything to the Tigers.. unless they resign him for 1 mil a yr as a backup...

With every decent outing Feliz has... its more and more likely he is brought back.. hopefully they non tender him instead of going through arbitration if they do bring him back because he is NOT going to be worth the amount of money he would get through arbitration... that being said... if they are going to bring him back... which I think they will unfortunately.... hopefully its on a lower cost deal. I have a bad feeling they are going to keep him around and spend top dollar to do it... out of desperation. Then again... if that keeps them from signing a free agent bullpen arm to a multi year contract that would hurt for longer... It may not be the worst thing. I would rather eat crow about Feliz if he has a nice year and ends up closer next year ( not out of the realm of possibility he is only 27) than see the Tigers invest in another aging reliever for multiple years.

Feliz line in Sept in 9.2 innings - 2.79 era with 7 k and only 1 walk whip of .75 and a .200 ba against... just good enough that Avila might feel pressure to keep him.. just bad enough to make me cringe when he does it.

The thing that is strange about him.. is his K rate is good. His walk rate is ok... but before Sept.. he was getting hit like a tee. Before Texas DFA'ed him.. his BA against in July was .410! Sept is the first month this season it was below .273... The BAbip against him was really high.. which tells me a lot was bad luck or bad defense... but still... I don't have a lot of confidence in him. I just have a really bad feeling that Avila does... hopefully he knows better than I do.

Tiger's 9th in attendance even with the crappy season.. They are ahead of the Royals.. how is that even possible. The first division title winning season in 30 years.. and nothing what so ever to do in KC... and they can still barely average 33,000 a year... And the clown Royals fans think their team can afford a 140 mil a year payroll next year... lol. Their TV deal is one of the smallest in the league and is not coming up any time soon too.

Neftali Feliz chart on his velocity shows that 2015... he is trending up from past few years... The odd thing is he has thrown 10% more Sliders this year which is almost double what he normally throws for his career... I am trying to figure out what the heck could be wrong with the guy.. because outside of this year.. he has been solid... and its been like 3 years since his Tommy John...

Its not his velocity for sure... maybe its a mental thing and the guy just needs to get some clean innings... He isn't giving up HR... he is just giving up base hits like crazy this year. His BAbip is ridiculously high... and just by math it can't stay like that... its like almost 35% of the flyballs he allows are finding a gap... thats not normal. Very odd stats... For a 27 yr old he should just be coming into his prime...

Why have the Tigers not signed Matt Latos yet? They need to get him in the fold and see if he could be useful. He clearly is still not healthy from a leg injury earlier this year... but he is only 27.. and has 3 seasons of 200 innings pitched and ERA under 3.30. The guy could be had for peanuts right now.
