Alex just had his option picked up for $5.4 mil. Now, if he could only hit .250, I'd back off his case.

As much as Im not an Avila fan, Im glad they picked him up for next year. Splitting time for a year could do both a lot of good. Not sure how long Lil' Al can take the beatings he takes.

Not that he's a great option, but Avila as a pinch hitter is something I wouldn't mind seeing next year. He atleast makes pitchers throw strikes. And we don't exactly have any big bats off the bench.

Would love to see a mccann / avila platoon. Alex should not be playing against lefties. I think the bullpen remains as detroits biggest concern heading into the season followed by extending price at almost any cost. They cannot afford to let price make it to FA next year. I also like the gose acquisition, love speed! In regards to catchers, I could care less if they hit .250 as long as they play good D and call a good game.

I also like the gose acquisition, love speed.....AJ had speed and played CF in Comerica great, guys complained about his hitting.....AJ will look like Ty Cobb compared to Gose at the plate.....We saw Davis in CF last year and that was sick......BP and CF need fixing big time....

That's a very real possibility I think.

If we could land a productive hitter who can play solid defense (and "pieces") for Price that be fine with me. Just worried Max leaves, Price doesn't get an extension and we go into the season needing to deal our best starter before the deadline.

Alex's BA has gone down every season since he won the Silver Slugger in 2011. That said, his .327 OBP was higher than guys like Torii Hunter and Ian Kinsler. The alarming stat is 151 strikeouts in 457 plate appearances. Almost 1 K every 3 times at the plate.

He might have had his best defensive season though. Only 3 passed balls, and threw out 34% of base stealers, both career bests.

Evan Reed back in the news again. Isn't there enough other crime for the prosecutor to go after? This woman did walk/stubble/trip past Detroit police (on casino video) and not seek help after the so-called drugging/r*pe.

Not to beat a dead horse but the tigers should have traded max last offseason while they still could and kept fister. Price is a far superior pitcher imo, I would much rather see Price extended than see max back for a billion dollars. If they did what they were supposed to do last offseason they would have already gotten that package of players for max and would be working on extending price. They didnt, and now they are going to get just a pick for max. The longer we wait for him to sign elsewhere though the more I get concerned. Here dave makes an awesome trade last year by dumping prince, but he then turns around and keeps max and trades fister. Ugh.
