He didn’t know an entire year before.

Almost no chance.

If Cleveland had won a title you really think he leaves?

It was a hypothetical until it happened. Just like Durant to the Warriors.

Lots can change over the course of the season.
almost no chance 3 young guys who were best of friends thought, "hmmmm.....how could we all play together?" and whehn that could happen, lo and behild there was a nice warm place young rich dudes like to live where they could make it happen. But you believe a guy who had known for years when he would be a FA did not know where he was going until he told us that day?

Sorry, but ya gotta love this forum.

as to if Cleveland would win a title what would he do? I mean, the guy did not do anything to make it easier for us to win a title by committing to stay or helping recruit guys here. You know, like he did when he came back and a good reason Love wanted to be traded here. Pretty sure he never thought we'd be winning a title.

That’s the problem with teams like the Lakers with A holes like Davis and James the team lets the inmates run the asylum. They both are team wreckers
Yeah James wrecks teams to titles everywhere he goes LOL

I don't believe the story that he didn't decide until that day.

I also don't believe he decided "years before".

I believe he decided when they finished #1 in the East then lost to the #4 Celtics in the Eastern Conference semis.

Agree with @shopson67

It looks like it was 6/$70 as a base. It's fairly common to put incentives in the contract of a first time head coach.

Maybe the base could have been more, but not much more.

If top pay in college is $13 million, he's earned that as he has shown himself to be one of, if not the best in cbb. In the NBA, if I'm not mistaken, guys like Pop, Spo and Kerr get around $16 million. He hasn't earned that kind of money in the NBA.

All things considered, it's unlikely that any team would be willing to give him Pop/Spo/Kerr money.

Monty Williams is a bad comparison imo, because he won in Phoenix and was Coach of the Year in 2022. Not to mention his time as an Assistant in the NBA. You're going to pay more for that than for a guy with no NBA experience.

I was hoping the Lakers would get him, but I understand why the base wasn't more and I understand why he would turn it down.
I think the guy will be a crazy good NBA coach a couple of years from now. He is gonna take a shot at the 3peat and then I think he goes to the NBA

I think so too. That's why I was hoping they'd get him.

I think he'd have been a great hire and was really happy to see the Lakers finally willing to commit to a better, longer term contract than with previous coaches.

Like I said.

They talked about it as a possibility. He knew it was a possibility and Miami cleared their cap space because they knew it too.

But no way he had his mind made up in time to tell the Cavs and for them to actually do anything differently.

Correct me if I am wrong here…

But when Wade and Bosh agreed to their deals, they were reported as full max.

Then they agreed to take a little less AFTER LeBron made his decision official.

Which absolutely leads to the conclusion that it wasn’t a done deal.

Yeah James wrecks teams to titles everywhere he goes LOL

His teams would be better off if he didn’t try to play gm

Don’t think that’s even remotely unfair

Everyone should want him to win a 3rd straight national championship (after winning the first 2 in April 2023 and 2024) so that he leaves for the nba….

….and I die

As long as he teams up with a couple superstars. Then he quits and finds another player to team with
Talk about freezing cold takes.

There were no superstars in Los Angeles when he joined the Lakers.

And they didn’t win anything. He had to get Unibrow to come
