A major problem our hitters have is extremely poor pitch recognition. They take so many 88 mph meat pitches right over the heart of the plate and swing at junk in the dirt once they're down in the count.

The old adage is "wait for your pitch". But far too often the Rangers hitters get "their pitch" very early in the count and either take it or foul it off. Then they have to battle the rest of the at-bat while behind in the count. Elvis is one of the worst offenders in that regard. Watch how many perfect meat pitches he fouls off into the 1st base stands. He's the most passive and defensive hitter on the team, with his ridiculous fake bunts and ducking out of the way of perfect strikes.

The Rangers just have no confidence right now and it shows in their approach to their at-bats. There is no aggression and no "I'm getting a hit off this clown" swagger. And it seems like the harder they try to fix things, the worse it gets.

Agreed. They don't have a clue about working the count and Profar, Mitch and Martin are getting worked over on the inside corner.

I would like to hear what the Rangers coaches are doing to fix this problem. I suspect it is mostly very little except hoping it will fix itself.

Ian has 2 really well-hit outs tonight. He is one of the few guys I have confidence in and one of the few who doesn't look totally lost at the plate. Basically these days it's Kinsler, Beltre, Cruz, and 6 pretty easy outs.

Pretty much. 6 automatic accept a single here and there

So where is Magadan in all of this? Why isn't the stink from this offense rubbing off on him?

They will tell them to keep grinding it out. :)

To be honest that's probably the case. Especially from Wash's interviews...it's just "keep grinding". Basically..nothing.

Even the win yesterday showed that the offense is lacking in all possible ways. It's pretty much 0-2, maybe 3/4 runs every night and hoping our pitching will just shut out the opposition.

Manny helped Olt out. Bring him up as player/hitting coach. Joking of course.

Like you said about Profar. That has always been my issue with Leonys.

Just can't understand why good time Wash and his brain trust of genius coaches cannot sit down and figure out how to fix guys like EA, Moreland, Murphy, etc. who have been stinking it up for extended periods. When you have a bad game or two weeks poor hitting okay, but months? Come on, earn your damn money. Also can't this gang of coaching clowns put their collective heads together after 100 games and figure out some sort of consistent lineups for right handed and left handed pitching that they can use for a couple weeks and then tweak it?

Tellin yall, Hughes is always prone to lose his effectiveness. That's how hes been his whole career. His biggest problem is that he is prone to the big inning
