Bad decision. Don't get me wrong I love JJ and forever grateful what he gave us in that 2011 run but Mekel has a much higher ceiling and has shown considerable improvement. Really feel for Mekel and hope someone scoops him up very quickly.

Bad decision. Don't get me wrong I love JJ and forever grateful what he gave us in that 2011 run but Mekel has a much higher ceiling and has shown considerable improvement. Really feel for Mekel and hope someone scoops him up very quickly.

Would rather have a deep veteran bench with Dirk on the back end of his career. Don't have the time for Mekel to figure it out. Gotta win now.

Avery Johnson annoyed the dog shit outta me when he played for the Spurs. JJ did that to teams in 2011. Bynum sure as hell didn't like him.

I don't see the ceiling you're referring to. He can't shoot, and is poor defensively. He's also slow, and not athletic or agile. Maybe he develops into a decent PG, but Barea has already been productive. Mekel would've been on the bench all year.

Barea while not great defensively is still a pest. Mekel is TO prone, and doesn't run the pick and roll like Barea.

Do you watch? He's played valuable minutes in both games since the trade. He's been the SG with Harris as the PG when the subs start coming in. The Mavericks were a +13 with Barea on the court in both games he has played.

Did not watch the preseason but my youngest son never misses a Mavs game and he said Mekel was looking good this preseason and felt it was a bad move to let Mekel go and pick up Barea. I know he was great for us in the playoffs in 2011 but we shall see. Hard to really know what Mekel would bring as Carlisle is not the best at playing young or NBA inexperienced players much of the time.

He's depth and will play more quality minutes than Mekel. It's pretty straight forward. That's the kind of body the Mavs need to go deep in the playoffs.

They definitely seem to have a deep team. Our main issue would be if Chandler was to go out for any period of time as we would struggle on the boards against many teams because of size disadvantage.
