This really is a pathetic showing by Dallas. Up 26 at half and at home vs. a lottery team, that should be an easy win. Now they've allowed them to creep back within 6. The effort on defense is particularly weak.

Having to have the starters fight and claw to win this game down the stretch is inexcusable though. Tyson Chandler is the only semblance of interior defense they have, and opposing teams are getting into the lane way too easily.

Lazy, careless, stupid. A 10-point lead becomes a 3-point lead with only 30 seconds coming off the clock.

Pathetic flop there by Marcus Smart. That's straight out of the school of Dwyane Wade.

Classless piece of trash.

Our rebounding is ridiculous. They killed us on the offensive boards because they out hustled us and we do not box out.

There's no doubt we got killed because of lack of hustle. That, and their shooter's that aren't that great of shooters just couldn't miss. The good news is we did what good teams do, and that's find a way to win. Big nights from Dirk and CP. You can't ask for a more efficient night from your 2 starting forwards. A win is a win. I'll take it.

What do you mean so? You said Barea was just a body like he was not going to be an important contributor to the team. Which made me think you haven't watched the games. I doubt if Mekel plays significant minutes for anyone ever in the NBA.

Did not watch the preseason but my youngest son never misses a Mavs game and he said Mekel was looking good this preseason and felt it was a bad move to let Mekel go and pick up Barea. I know he was great for us in the playoffs in 2011 but we shall see. Hard to really know what Mekel would bring as Carlisle is not the best at playing young or NBA inexperienced players much of the time.

I watched all of the televised pre-season games. Mekel looked ok, but it was the pre-season. You are right about Carlisle and not being that good at developing talent. Like I said earlier, Mekel would have sat on the bench all year unless we were blowing someone out. He just doesn't do anything above average.

We're haggling over 2 pretty insignificant players, Barea plays a bigger role this year, Mekel has the potential to better going forward, that's all

Parsons started off hot and then cooled off then hit a big 3. But he stunk in every other phase of the game. Defense, handling the ball, rebounding. Dirk I know is not a defensive stalwart but his shots in our 1/2 court offense were big. I notice we did not play Crowder much and he did not play at all in the last game but his energy and defense might have helped. Not sure why Jefferson was out there so much.

Exactly. I like what Barea gives us and his intangibles but I personally would have preferred Mekel since he's younger, and was progressing quite nicely.
