I'm not the one who brought it up, I just happened to come across it. I also happen to love the idea. It steemed from Westbrooks and Durant's on court issue (probably Westbrook shooting too much). Westbrooks defense is good enough to defend the 2's in the league, which in turn would allow Ellis to guard the pg's.
Would Trading Stephen Curry For Russell Westbrook Make Sense For The Golden State Warriors? - Golden State Of Mind
I just want to add that Westbrook is a way better fit to what Jackson is trying to do than Curry. On the other hand, Curry is a better fit to what OKC needs than Westbrook is. Make it happen!
*note: just to touch on the not trading Curry for Paul. It wasn't because Curry is so good, it was because Paul didn't guarantee that he would re sign. We didn't want to trade Curry for a 1 year rental.

Pass. I would MUCH rather keep Curry than trade for Westbrook. That guy is not half as good as he thinks he is. And that statement is coming from a guy who prefers Monta* to Curry.

Westbrook is everything that is wrong with a point guard.

* I am also a realist who knows that as Monta improves, he is building up his trade value for the Warriors and he is likely going to be the one who goes.

He's pretty damn good. I would love to have him paired with Ellis. On top of that he is EXACTLY what we need in the backcourt with Ellis. He isn't a traditional pg, as Ellis isn't a traditional 2. At times Ellis would handle the ball with Westbrook playing off, and vice versa. His defense would truely be welcomed by Jackson (and me). He can and does play legit defense on any sg in the league. Imagine the athleticism and speed in the backcourt with those two. This move would for sure strengthen the team.

Did you watch the WCF last year? It was because of Westbrook's oversized ego that the Thunder lost. If that guy is so arrogant as to think he is a better shooter than Kevin Durant, imagine what he would be like if he only had Monta to compete with. That dude would take 40 shots per game. He is a DESTROYER of chemistry, no matter how talented he is.

It's funny that you mention that. I was talking about that very thing two days ago to a buddy of mine. LOL! I don't care about that though. I think it had part to do with their soft ass coach being scared to make one of the players mad. Also, Durant was getting d'd up by Marion. Durant was to skinny and not as determined as Marion was. I remember KD taking the inbound on their side of the court with about 6 seconds left and was forced to heeve up a 30 ft jumper because Marion was in his chest.
True Westbrook should've passed more, however he probably noticed that KD was having problems. I think Jackson has respect from players around the league and won't be afraid to tell his pg how he should play.

Your argument about Mark Jackson being in command makes some sense. Even though I don't completely buy into it, I think that if anyone would be able to get through to Westbrook, it would have to be a guy like Jackson. And with Curry's injury history, I would be more inclined to go with a guy like Westbrook, who has never missed games due to injury - even in college.

Sorry to intrude. I don't think that Westbrook is that great of a defender. In fact, I think the whole OKC team SUCKS defensively except Perkins. Ibaka is alright but not great. Westbrook is by no means better in any way than Ellis. He doesn't shoot better. I don't think he penetrates better. He certainly doesn't pass better and really I don't think he defends better either. I just don't see how that guy would work on your team. I like Curry though. Heck of a young talent. Only in his 3rd year in the league and he pretty much averages 18 points and 6 assists per game while on the same team as Ellis. That is pretty stout if you think about it.

Along those lines, how about Monta for Westbrook? Or does that not really help either team?

Well, the problem is that Monta does not have the same perceived value around the league that Curry does. Some of Monta's earlier stunts (the motor scooter incident, him openly ignoring past coaches and his involvement with SJax, Harrington and the player revolt a few years back) all work against him.

Even though he claims to be a changed man, the league still has a decidely less-than-exemplary view of Monta Ellis. I am not a big fan of Westbrook, so I am probably not the person to say this, but I wouldn't trade Monta for Westbrook. I think Monta's better. Most of the NBA will disagree with me though.

I'm watching Curry here trying to lead the Warriors without Ellis and it looks horrible. This is clearly a league for players of Ellis' talents. His elite athleticism and scoring ability. I'm convinced that Ellis and Westbrook would form a way better backcourt than do Ellis and Curry. Ellis isn't scared to get to the foul line. Curry is very soft in that respect. I'm convinced that we need to try to make that deal happen. This team has shown that they can win with Ellis and no Curry, not the other way around.
Did I mention that we shot no free throws in the whole first half. NO FREAKIN FREE THROWS IN A WHOLE HALF! ZERO! Give me a break.
